what sort of price is it for a cam belt and idler change? its just i bought a Toledo last year that has supossed to have had the belt done at 60k but today i had a peek behind the top cam belt cover and it doesnt look like a belt thats only done 10k, also the top idler has like black patches on...

:headhurt: Car in for 60,000 service today and the dealers have quoted me £290 for the cam belt change, if required. I contacted an independent garage who quoted £278! Is this about right? For you guys who run FR TDi's are you finding you need to change cambelt @ 60k or more like 80k?

I was at a revo garage last friday and they told me i should of got my cambelt and water pump changed last summer when the car was 4 years old. Im pretty sure i read it in the manual as 5 years or 60,000 miles. The car is just coming up to 40,000 miles and is due a 10,000 mile service in 5 weeks...
