Long Overdue Update

Got my 130PD leon about two weeks ago, was an upgrade from my 110 MK4 GT TDI Golf.

Love driving it, but need a name for it....
The golf was nicknamed 'the blue fantastic' by people at work, what could the Yellow Leon be called?

This is the start of a small build thread.

The car I replaced:

When I bought it:

Fitted a W8 light and some Audi TT Pedals to it today.

Pics of the pedals will be up soon and I have more plans and parts waiting

hahaha, after being on here for a while its hard to disbelieve it. I only had plans for a BOV and air filter.

Not big plans....
But with the leon virtually being a golf, I will be using quite a few of the parts I had for that and doing the mods I never did.

Hybrid turbo is unlikely at the moment, but if I come across one it may happen.

I have a Decat, EGR delete kit and remap all in store and purchased/arranged, maybe a different set of wheels if something takes my fancy. New steering wheel on its way to me, and a cruise control kit sat in the boot.

One thing I will NOT be doing is lowering it. I lowered the Golf and love the way it looks and handles, however the hassle of a lowered car was driving me mad.

Thats the joy of plans....thay can soon change haha!
Also, inspiration can strike at any moment. As can a huge insurance premium hike for modding.

I can agree with you on the lowering. My cupra looks like its sat quite high but i do like the handling, and i also enjoy the sporty if not comfortable ride. If i do drop it, it'll only be by about 20mm and that will be just for handling lol

My old car was a corsa and i lowered that 60mm all round. it handled like it was on rails. but show it a speed bump and it was goodnight vienna!! hahaha

Thinking about getting an arm rest, as the golf had one that was useful for long motorway drives alongside the cruise control for utter laziness.

Does anyone have a picture of an arm rest in a mk1 Leon? Also, I noticed that my trim doesnt appear to have a cut-out for one so I will have to cut one.

Big plans for tomorrow.
Just hope I can get everything done in time.

Plan on fitting cruise control, a new steering wheel, arm rest and the wheel lining vent mod.
Engine oil, gearbox oil and fuel filter change happening also I hope.

My arm rest, complete with cup holders:

New wheel, I have a plan to remove that horrible audi badge, hope it works.

Ended up buying something else on the bay today too.

The Yellow Submarine

Sadly last weekend didnt go to plan and I didnt get half of what I wanted done, however the oil change went well and resulted in a lovely quieter PD engine. Got a Halfords trade card and purchased a few very cheap gash items to keep with my tools.

The interior is 90% stripped at the moment and the centre trim has been cut ready for the arm rest.

The gearbox drain plug and filler plugs both are some wierd multispline with a tamper proof pin in the middle, so that never happened! Still got the oil waiting.

Cruise control will happen tomorrow if all goes to plan, and the new steering wheel will be fitted.

Few small tricks planned over next two weeks: 12V socket in boot, hard wired sat-nav, reversing camera and screen, improved boot light and new aerial all to come. As well as a hidden aux cable for those sitting in the back seats.

My MOT is due in 2 weeks so might get that done this week.

Cruise control is now fitted, Going to create an in-depth guide including photos for anyone that wants to install it in their car.

S3 wheel fitted although it still has that horrible Audi badge on the front.

Arm rest with cup holders fitted too now. However it is blue in colour which does get a bit irritating.

I must drive the ultimate lazy mans car, with cruise control, arm rest and comfy steering wheel. But when you drive 615 miles in one day to go back home, its quite often, they are worthwhile mods!

On top of that, I fitted a small fin aerial. Will get better pics in daylight.

some real good mods there mate, a few iv done myself. i tried to fit cruise control but it doesnt work on my car because its an import apparently! is that a standard armrest aswel cause mine doesnt have those cup holders which i want! ha cheers mate

I have done a few more bits and bobs to the car and have some better photos, however am lacking an overall photoshoot of this car. Will get some soon when there is more daylight to play with.

The arm rest is actually from Audi, so I would contact the Audi dealer RE the cup holders, however with a part number, your local seat can order it in for you. - Will see if I can dig a number out for you.

Fitted the 12V socket, just have to connect it to my aix fusebox to get power to it. Aded a switch which will illuminate when switched to on, so there is an indication that it has power.

Also wired in a new boot light on the opposite side to the existing to one to add more light.

My new rear wiper has arrived! Thought it would be a good idea as I worked out it would fit....then I realised that every bugger with a leon gets one haha...fabia rear wiper!

On sat I washed, clayed, washed, polished and waxed the car. Took 4 hours, so didnt bother with the interior!

Did some welding on the golf too whilst getting it back to selling standard

Love the way the leon looks now with the wiper and aerial changed, need some alloys now.
Some performance mods in mind first however....

Lovely, I sooo wanted a yellow one but were too damn expensive when I got mine, more than happy with my red one though, did the s3 steering wheel go straight on and doesnt the air bag from the original steering wheel fit the s3 wheel?

The wheel is a straight fit, but sadly the air bag is not.
For some reason, Audi use a bolt on airbag with the horn mechanism and frame attached to the bag. VW, Skoda and Seat all use a clip-in airbag with the frame and horn mechanism attached to the wheel.

There is no way of adapting this either from what I can see though, which is a huge shame.

Nothing wrong with a red leon, they look good. My fav colour by far was the dark grey/silver which looks almost gunmetal that seat do.

The following photos should show the difference in steering wheels a little better than I can explain:

The audi one (top) has screws that hold the airbag in, whereas the seat one (bottom) has the access holes to allow you to unclip the airbag using a screwdriver.

The audi wheel (Left) has no carrier or horn mechanism whereas the seat one does.

The seat one is the bottom one and is missing the horn mechanism and carrier.

The aribags are the same shape and size as far as I can tell.
