Just an update for all concerned and to log my findings!
I managed to get my original remote key working with a bit of soldering - I have the lock button working but the unlock button is broken. However, the it had lost the matching.
I rematched this one using method by which you put your original non remote key in the ingnition to dash lights on, other original remote key in the door and pressing the lock button whilst turning the key lock and unlock. No noise was made but it seemed to work.
I then moved to the new flip key with code ending CT. This one didn't match using the method above but worked with the method by which you have the key in the car to dash lights on, exit the car, lock it and then on your new remote press the lock button for 6 seconds, pause, press unlock and the horn let off a weedy beep. Then that was matched.
I also had another subsitute old style remote but now I've got the CT flip key I can't be bothered with that so will fleabay it.
Very happy with a remote matched flip key, mega thanks to all on this thread, original posters and those answering my repeated queries!!!
Just need to get this key cut, get a new badge and then very importantly get a new roll pin for this one (as it was purchased without one).
Anyone know where sells roll pins to hold the key in place?

Does anyone know how you code the boot button to work?
A lot of people on here have just said you press and hold it? But I've kept hold of it for more than half a minute and it still won't open the boot at all ? ?
Does this only work with cars who have one touch unlock for the whole car?
I've even coded my Bora in to accept the key and that won't let me unlock the boot either?

I can now confirm that a 434mhz Flip key will work if your car originally uses either a 433mhz or a 434mhz key, However if your car Originally has a 434mhz Key, it will only allow you to program in a 434mhz key so that's two keys I've got that won't work on the car... lol.

You may need to have all the keys erased in vag-com before you can re-add them.
I'm not 100% sure how it works on the CAN-BUS models though.
I've got a 1K0 959 753G at home and that coded in ok on the Bora and the Ibiza Mk4 with the exception of the booot button.
I've found that where most instructions tell you to Insert key to ignition and switch on, shut door, lock door with second key, Press unlock once and it will beep, then press unlock again after six seconds.

Nope, No different
HLO isn't really part of the part number.
For example if you rang VW and gave them HL0 1K0 959 753G, They would tell you its not available.
Yet if you rang VW and gave them 1K0 969 753G they would order you one up!
HL0 Just seems to be a spurious pre-fix to the long numbers!

Oh right I see, so my problem seems that one remote ends in N and the other G
It could be, as with the can-bus systems as used on the Leon 2 and the Golf 5, they can be really fussy with what parts will run with them.
Got my key cut at a local Timpsons. The guy did it for free as he said there was no guarantee it would work. Just as well, because he had an attitude when I presented him with just a blade and no fob. He tried to tell me that it wouldn't work without the fob and the chip inside it.
Now to get the flip key open and change the blade and transponder. Got the Skoda badge off eventually with only a little bit of damage to the fob and the screw out too. Just can't get the thing seperated. I'm sure I read a How To guide that was linked to in this thread the other day? Just can't find the page it was on.

Found the disassembly FAQ and have done so, just can't get the pin out to remove the old blade. It's maybe come about 1/10th out of the hole, and now it has a bit of broken pin stuck inside part of it, that I was using to try and tap it out with. 
I'm giving up for now, it's peeing it down outside anyway, so wouldn't get any programming done.

my question is can i code a new flippy key to my car without vagcom or going to the dealers?
as ive got a new key on its way already got a blade cut to the car.
only have one key for my car and want to keep it as a working spare key hence the reason of buying a new key so i dont want to take the only key i have apart to put in my flippy key if that makes sence.
