LCR ABS + ESP intermittent warning light/CEL light I have a 03 plate cupra R which i am loving asides from a few little warning lights on the dash (running perfectly however) Basically when i bought the car the ABS pump was unplugged (Handbreak light, ABS, ESP light constantly on) and i was...

    Freetrack/XL LED bulb replacement?

CAN bus lamps If you are thinking of saving power by using LEDs, forget it. :( The CAN bus system will flag up a fault if a lamp is taking significantly less power than the system thinks it should. One way round this is to add additional load to the circuit in the form of an external load...

Yeah :) These are the ones I found also. I think these are the best bulbs for rear fog lights.

LED Number Plate Lights That Work!

It's the initial strobing effect that shortens the life of the LEDs and ultimately kills them which is the reason some people find they end up having to replace the LEDs they've fitted with new ones at periodic intervals. If you do get the strobing effect and you have VCDS (or know someone who...

    License plate LED

i have that on my fr bumper for some months now and i can tell they are really really bright the resistors i didn't put them cause i saw that the plate light was not can bus so i have no error

    License plate LED

Exactly, the model for the ibiza comes with a resistor. Should i remove it if i want to install it?
  8. L.E.D bulbs?

Yeah I have a rough idea how Led's and resistors work, iv got some 6ohm resistors in the draw from an old project, but I know of a mod for the insignia relating to Led's and the can bus system , worked out u only needed to put a resistor on one of the number plate lights then u could put normal...
  9. LED rear indicators

The problem with fitting resistors in line means you need to cut the cable to put in the resistor, which most people want to avoid cutting up their wiring loom, hence the long thread, if you're cutting the loom to put in a resistor you may as well just swap the wires over then as you will have...
  10. Partsulike LEDS

It would be great if the built-in resistors actually can fool the car and make it think the LEDs are using 10W rather than 3 or even 8, however built-in resistors in small can-bus LEDs are pretty weak and have a short lifespan from my experience. I think the best option at the moment is buy...

How to Change DRL Bulb in Leon with Xenon Lights

We have scotch locked a standard sidelight bulb holder to the number plate wiring on the inside of the bumper, and then put a sidelight in it. This fools the can bus system :) Something like this...

    Changing Interior Lights **GUIDE**

You can solve it by adding a resistor in line with the LED/ using "CAN-BUS" LEDs LEDs use so little power that they will glow faintly under the residual current in the system. I've got blue LEDs in my map lights, they glow ever so faintly, but tbh, you don't notice it.

LED sidelights & registration plate lights

The problem with the so called can bus friendly ones is that the built in resistors are not quite high enough resistance for the Leon. As with all resistors they resist less as the heat builds up. Many of the so called can bus ones will work fine for about 3-4 mins then flag an error for this...

LED sidelights & registration plate lights

Might give that one a go, I tried the resistors and like you said they get hot!! The last one had most of my skin stuck to it haha

    leds playing funnies..any suggestions

Yeah a resistor will help or maybe can-bus LED's as they have resistors built in, it's quite common for LED's to do that when fitted to interior lights because the circuit works by permenent live and switched earth via door switch. I think.

Hi from prospective new buyer :)

To be honest I don't have any links any more and I wouldn't want you to buy the wrong ones. There will be plenty of threads on this subject with up to date links. You need 5w5 ones for sidelights (1 pair) P21 ones for DRL's (1 pair) 38mm festoon ones for reg plate (1 pair)...
  18. bulb revamp

hids-direct sells can-bus friendly LEDs for almost everything in the car, including the fog lights. If for some reason the built-in resistor fails, you can buy one but it will require some rewiring in order for it to work properly. That doesn't happen often, though, except with registration...
  19. Light on on dash?

Are you sure that the DRLs are actually can-bus compatible? I have a feeling you need LED resistors in order to overcome the error message, or a vag-com cable to just disable it although I am not too sure if the latter would work and stop it from coming back.
  20. LED Sidelights problem!

To be honest the only ones I have used were from hids-direct and I only kept them for about three months and then I changed the headlights themselves so I had no use for them. They worked pretty good and error free, however, and a lot of people seem to have success with ones from hids-direct so...
