nice yeh itll be good to do the one thing once. cheers mate. just hopefully it didnt do much or start anything on my last attempt with the older Seat files but I didnt really see any indication of a update starting. I should have got a USB key or external SSD drive that flashes when data is moving, unless an update in progress bar should have showed up if its working?

I see the newer links to the November 2024 release is now working this morning:

Nice thank mate, look like the link it downloading as this one 'https://navigation-maps.volkswagen.com/vw-maps/EUR_12PR119_FCT3WS-23131_Offline_Update.tar' My car doesn't seem to react to it despite it recognising that there is a USB connected to it:

going through all of the tabs here doesnt show further options to trigger/force an update nor does plugging it in before turning on the car show any options to start the update, is it because i've only turned it on but not started the engine?:

I did select default allocation size too and exFAT and extracter directly from 7zip to the USB:

ill try again using the new zip file and maybe actually start the car along with the engine to see if thats a factor. Going into sedrvice mode doesn't give me an option to update too but from what I've read you are not meant too go here to update the maps (?) you have just shared though, thanks again for your continued help on this matter mate.

I'm still on A896 if this matter, I've not seen the option to update since last time I was driving home from work:

When you update the map, you don't need to do anything no service menu, nothing. Just leave the stick in the port and drive around. The car will do the update automatically as long as it's the newest version.

It does it eventually... I don't have mib3 so appreciate people telling others how to do. Some want to press the firmware update button but that is something different. So I'm off the hook replying  .

On duration and getting it running constantly you can leave a door open and keep the ignition on or ignition off. Someone did get it completed that way on a mib3 in a gated community... I gave them that advice. These are tricks you can do certainly on mib2 highs which is just to open the door every 15 minutes that's because Vag cars have that 20 minute power down, 15 minutes open and close the door or keep the door open. I lock up, go in the house come back 15 minutes later. Since I got the mib2 high in the swdl menu you see the process. Others drive around like mib3 owners with their mib2 highs. Once you got the mib3 update going, which is a bit invisible unless you have one of the usb's with a led light that flashes, then it needs that 30 - 40 minutes or so.

I did do some tests on exFat v NTFS. That's another thing people are preoccupied with, NTFS the HD format, it's exFat for solid state. The preoccupation of formatting SD cards for the mib2 high map in NTFS... took a while to stop people doing that. You never reformat the mib2 or mib1 map cards since OS can wack the file allocation table. You just delete what's on them.

June approaching so new maps should be coming out then. 🎁

Man that sounds like a whole mad disco the opening and closing but good to know. Im happy to say finally after spending a while reading the manual about how to control/manually adjust the headlights (failed miserably so far in regard to info) and cleaning out vomit smell from the seat belts, I believe the old guy might have missed that, I'm happy to announce its now updated to 24.6, hell id buy you all a beer if you drink. Now off to other rabbit holes wahahhaa. Still wondering why phase 2 on my A896 hasn't started after first seeing it pop when driving home on Thursday night but ill spam up another thread 😅 cheers guys.

It's this one at the top of the thread:

# Gulf Region 1.9 Gb
Škoda portal: https://infotainment-cdn.skoda-auto.com/base/maps/OI_P129_MRM_AGCC2_202448_Offline_Update.zip

What I'm doing now with thus thread will be to edit in the new when it comes out and put at the top... so that's it. Sometimes the Skoda servers go down so if it's not working it will probably get fixed. Recent incident like that. Then you follow the manuals in the pdf and text. As said the navigation files are interchangeable between Seat, Cupra, Skoda and VW. The Skoda ones are currently the most timely.

7zip is the way, the internal Windows file manager unzips more or less. I know this was my issue when trying to read the YY.MM on it - it didnt work correctly. Only use 7zip. I'll have a look later. The other option is the VW file but that will be earlier by six months. Give you that later.

You do have to leave these in the car for a while for the update to progress.

Just to check it is not a European import that had previous European maps on it ?. If so you can't load those maps onto it without getting the navigation FeCs altered. For that you'll need a retrofitter. Mib3 is locked down from user tinkering with the FeCs.

Back on the story that zip file has a CRC error. Which means it won't work. Stringent validation is done by the unit so any missing files will get the raspberry. Skoda does this, lax with it's QA so being in the Gulf region probably hasn't been picked up as an error and reported. Will give you the VW one.

Rogue CRC error.

It should say 23.12 if it loads up fine, that's using the method I was kindly given when I asked the community:

That file is six months before the unavailable Škoda one. VW is on a go slow on Mib3 published navigation files online:

Well ofcourse VW could have messed up their zip program as well. Which car do you have ?. I can cross check the files the VW site is putting up. Assume it's a VW. I only get to see the European VW website but can do a comparison with what it's offering across models. Can probably frig something to see other regions. Might come down to a file comparison.

There are models of mib I've seen on Russian sites that I don't recognise. These are Audi ones. They have their own maps. It could be one of those why I'm asking about the car to check that it's not one of the more specific ones. I reckon they will put in an appearance on Seat and Skoda at some stage.

BTW as I say with mib3 and mib2 high files always keep separate any files you open and look at against those you use. You can't save those files via any editor and expect them to work. Cunning SLA signature encryption.

Finally it works after several times attempting the issue is with the files it has to be separate on the USB stick it is 2022 golf r if you have the latest updates for navigation of Gulf region please share with me this one is 23–12 another question one of my friends has VW Teramont his screen doesn't have any maps totally installed is it possible I can put the maps on the USB stick and could be installed on the screen itself ?

There are more experienced and well-informed people around here about the subject but I'll give you the basics:

It depends on model year, generation of infotainment unit (MIB2, MIB3 etc), specific model (part number) of the unit to see if it supports navigation and the presence of required hardware (a GPS receiver antenna or a telematics unit). Then it can be decided whether you would be able to do it yourself or you would need a retrofitter service to do it for you locally or remotely.

Edit: It's nothing like putting maps on a stick and transferring it to the unit, way more complex than that.

I'm glad it worked since it saved me looking at it further. Backing up the laptop at the minute... I will have a look at what map file the VW Teramont uses.... if I can find it. It's basically an at Atlas which isn't sold in Europe. I will have to do more digging. You could try inserting the USB.

It appears that in some RoW countries the cars are shipped without the navigation FeC installed / activated navigation and if that is the case then you need to a retrofitter with access to Vag equipment to enable it. Whilst mib2 high unit had it's security broken so navigation FeCs could be changed, to my knowledge that hasn't been done with mib3. Vag became suitably excited about people accessing the unit to modifications however if it's done via Vag tools and presumably license is paid then it fine. You will fine in Turkey there are cars being enabled for navigation that arrived for whatever reason.

The VIN number tell you what is installed. The head unit H56 in your case or H57 are regularly seen on here as mib3. If it's wildly different then may be different territory. Then it's whether navigation has been activated. Try the usb. If that doesn't work then it's a retrofitter and that's assuming the unit is equipped for navigation.

BTW that's the security check why it wasn't seeing the map files. Very strict on presentation because it checks for an exact copy from the signature.
