This was not actually my MK1 thankfully, but Mk5 Ibiza (they're not sociable on that platform 😆) Had a young girl drive straight into the back of me in traffic yesterday. Shed not long passed her test, so in a state. Luckily she hasn't damaged the integrity of the car, but got some cracked paint, number plate & scuffs. I told her not to worry about it, assuring her I can fix it up for £30. She was very relieved, but the driver behind her wanted to shop her for dangerous driving.
Oddly, the time I actually have a keen witness, it's the time I don't need to even go through insurance. He was shitty towards her, so I gi assured her there would be no further action & not to worry.
I need to perfect my rattle can skills now 😐
That guy sounds like a lefty narcissist, should of told him to spin on it lol

Sorry to hear about the accident mate. That was nice of you to let her off with it. Hopefully you can repair it without too much hassle.

I had a really hot indian girl drive into the back of mine on a roundabout a couple of years ago. Gave it a proper bump, but amazingly did zero damage, not even a mark on the paint. I think the fact that i'd just dipped the clutch to put her into gear allowed the impact to push the car fwd rather than damage it. Tried to get her number, but turned out she was married haha.
🤣Aww mate, that's a sweet story, shame she was married 😞
Glad the car was ok though & at least that gets better with age 👍

Some people just love to feel important & I guess threatening a young lady who's only just passed her test, is about as 'macho' as you can get. I did usher him on, perfectly capable of dealing with it like a human being.😆

I had the same one year. It's a few turn in to the parking for the local shops. .. left right left. Stop... well it's stopped.. the young lad behind didn't. Low speed.. but made a big bang haha. Loads of people stopped and looked. Poor lad was in tears. Only passed a month or so befor.
Mine was my old 05 plate vivaro van. With tow bar. And his was a clio.. so both perfectly OK after.. but I moved both vehicles out the way.
Some lady got him a drink to help calm him down..
What annoyed me was people saying I should claim for injury, and not to move the vehicls etc.
Any way bollox it to.. told him hope he has learnt his lesson. And merry Christmas. ( it was Christmas eve) and told him to go home and sit down and calm down. Gave him my number if he had any problems with his car etc and I done my shopping.
Later that eve ing. His dad called me and said why was I not claiming insurance and for injurys , I said cos there is no point . 1 cos there wasn't any and 2 it would screw the young lad for insurance for years to come. . His old man could not thank me enough.
Don't know any morrels to this story...

That be me , been using it a while and this https://www.hydra-int.com/ehn-99.html , price has jumped but it goes along way due to Dosage and you can mix it with DPB-100 and a cheaper option and just buying this https://www.hydra-int.com/maximus-diesel-power-booster.html .. you really need to get the car up to temp and a good run as heat is the key for an additive and make sure the air filter is not skimped on service as that don't help and you need air flow due to the EGR system, also if the oil feed was failing the turbo wont last long as you'll get the good old thrust bearing siren noise

Thanks for the recommend - it does seem to be making a difference. Still no smoke when I start the car and it doesn't feel as clogged as it used to. Always good to try just the one thing from a new company to see if it works before buying other stuff, but I'm be looking into those other additives.

I need to do a service sometime soon (probably last month!), so when I get under the car I can check the turbo oil feed. I've been driving with the window cracked to see if I can hear any worrying noises from the turbo, but it actually seems pretty healthy. Probably just a mix of not driving the car enough, too many short drives and a long time where I wasn't looking after the car well enough about ten years ago.

Time for my annual 'now the weather's improving I'll clean my intake manifold but I'm scared of rounding out or snapping the allen bolts in the block' post.

What have I done to the car today... basicly just unloaded my bank account to get more bits for the fuel system. Pump, swirl pot. Fittings. . Got to paint the fuel tank box this week end. Then start sorting stuff. Then order the pipe work.. gonna cost over 2k just for the fuel system hahahah. This car is going to be the end of me.

Made a big difference when i started using it, it works well for short journey issues.. that EHN-99 with Ethylhexyl Nitrate in it is the same additive that's put in the premium fuels some people just use that but it has no lubricate or cleaner additive, the DPB-100 has one of the best cleaners in it on the market.. i used millers before and that was good but compared its night and day miles better

I used Millers too - which is why it took me so long to buy the Hydra stuff, given most of it seemed to end up leaking into the boot and stinking the car out rather than actually do anything to make the car run better!
