Hi, just joined from Australia with an Formentor and was wondering if anyone knows if these software update files are compatible with Australian vehicles? Would appreciate any information you can give me as I don’t want to “brick” my system by updating with wrong software.

I have MO13_EU_SE_R8980L in my system software was 1898 so I updated to 1969 and everything seems OK. Thank you for the reply to my question. This is the first Cupra I have owned so learning slowly!

Updated mine today from 1940 to 1969. Went fine with no issues. I was a bit worried during CPU phase when the progress bar sat at about 25% for ages. I thought it had stalled. However, after a few minutes it jumped to 80 odd % and continued. Took it for a short drice but didn't notice any improvements / changes.

I did it with the engine running as I'd read it is safer as it prvents possible bricking of infotainment system should the battery fail during the update. I have subsequently read that the engine should be off during the update. We'll mine went through fine. So I assume it is OK.

I always update while engine is running or while driving.
I do, although one time my sat nav went haywire on a long trip, even somehow affected the phone gps. I literally end up showing on the sat nav in the sea, going cross country, assisted cruise control I assume at points in a different country initially as speeds were higher than uk.

First of all, thanks everyone for all the info is this topic; it helped me a lot! I succesfully updated my infotainment system from 1790 to 1899 to 1969. I had a few hesitations before updating:

- First off all, i wasn't sure my infotainment system was correct for the update. The last letter of my device number (in my case, a D) was not found in anyone else's photo's. Everyone had a different letter at the end. I now know, this last letter is not relevant for the check. As long as your device number starts with 5FA035862, you should be fine, in my opinion. After updating from 1790 to 1899, I even discovered that the last letter of my devicenumber had changed (now a M)! See pictures below.
- My car originally didn't had Carplay/ Android auto. My dealer activated this for me. I was a little bit afraid, that after the update, this may be broken. But is was not the case.

So how did the update process go? I had some little complications.

When i first started the update from 1790 to 1899; i only saw a black screen (with a back button) for 4 minutes. After a while, it continued, and one update was installed fairly quickly (within 30 seconds). The system then restarted. I was still on version 1790 at that point.

When I performed the update to 1899 again, the black screen with only the back button appeared again. After 4 mintutes the update to 1899 started and was succesfully installed.

After the update of 1899, i did the same procedure for 1969; this went quick and smooth.

For those who are looking for the firmware updates. Below a link to software 1899 and 1969 that i used.

1899 --> https://mega.nz/file/FIozRIjQ#w7EgD7UO7SgSUh3ANAyS3grJnXm0iiUbOm_fD88tf2s
1969 --> https://drive.google.com/file/d/11NjtSo8KknBBWBhjMfZEt5_6z3qPxYZd/view
Just got a new (to me) Leon eHybrid myself. It has an 1780 version.

Are these files linked suitable for me to safely update my infotainment to the newest version? Firs 1899 then 1969?

Car is still under warranty (5 years here), but the local dealer told me they are not willing to update (for free that is) if there is no faults in the system as it is.

So i am a bit scared to do it myself.

Download those files to USB-C stick (one at a time that is), stick it in the car, push menu button for couple of seconds for the engineering menu, choose update and cross my hands?

Hello, after the update, the left turn signal tail light indicator started working. It starts beating rapidly 5-6 clicks after the signal is given. There was a problem with the tailgate signal to the taillights. It is updated whether there is any information about the update. Could reinstalling the same update solve the problem? Anyone have any ideas?

Nothing to do with updating your infotainment. Likely you have a water inside the lights or the LED element is damage or corroded connector or light is faulty.

Once in a while it happened to me, but as soon as I exited the car, lock and unlock and start again it would go away.

You keep all the time with that error, never goes away ?

When I turn the ignition off and on, the error goes away. It usually crashes after 4-5 clicks after giving the signal. I will leave the vehicle to the service when I have time. Let's see what the result will be.

Hi everyone, I hope you are well. Quick question, I am currently on version 1896. I have a Formentor vz 2.0 2020. Can I update directly to 1969?

Main reason why I want to upgrade is because I am trying to become a primary user and every time I do it says “Sorry, this function is unavailable”

I raised a ticket with Cupra who advised taking the car to a dealership to get it updated but the booking is far away, I’m also unsure if they will charge me for the update as I am out of warranty.
