Hi All,

Came across this forum as I was looking for a new car and really interesting reads with a lot of knowledge.

I noticed some dealers offering the V2 1.5 TSI Formentor at a heavily discounted price - unregistered. I was initially interested in a 2021, one owner model booked for a test drive for this Friday although the dealer describes the colour as Green on the advert, on a follow up call it was described as Mountain Green which it cannot be! They now tell me it is Forest Green!

Anyway, I have this evening pulled the trigger on a Graphene Grey model and look forward to visiting the dealer on Friday after viewing the green one - simply to keep a relationship with that dealer as they are based 15 minutes from me! The 5 year warranty with the unregistered model and the fact I am driving a new car for an extra 6K (9.5k) discount from list price makes sense.

Any hints or tips when I view the unregistered model? The only area I could think of was the software version.

Anything else I should bear in mind?

Sounds like good deal if getting a 5 year warranty.
Don't forget about the 40k 5 year extra tax threshold as that is based on the RRP and not what you actually pay.

I bought a V2 1.5 dsg last month - I assume yours is pre face lift like mine. There's nothing to check, I bought have never even been in one let alone driven it. It's a graphene grey as well. Software is fine - it's had the odd glitch and slow boot but nothing that's been a big deal. I'm fine with the touch screen but the lack of physical buttons for heated seats is a pain. They 'learn' so eventually you don't need to adjust them much and you can voice control but still not a great system.

You really need to sit for an hour at home and set up the cluster and the central screen, I very rarely need to use anything but the steering wheel controls after a lot of trial and error.

The list on a 1.5 doesn't get near the 40k mark unfortunately every other engine does which is why I'm in a 1.5 not a hybrid or 2.0. Our 128 was specced to get under the 40k by getting the privacy glass fited aftermarket by the dealer but that was 2 years ago. Most quick stuff unless it's totally bog standard is well over 40k now.

I nver knew about the 40K Tax threshold but a good point although the list price for the 1.5 is under that (thankfullyl

Really good to know and appreciate the feedback and tips. It is a pre face lift and going up from a car that has only A/C and rear sensors is a huge jump. I think I will be in there half a day wow'ing at all the features and setting up. Perhaps I should skip the test drive then but not long to go and I will be at the dealers.

We are about to follow suit - picking up our V2 1.5 Manual this Saturday (16th), so fingers crossed all will be well. Great value at the prices they were listed, just before the autumn budget, but noticed that the dealer had increased the price of their remaining cars by £1K when I checked earlier today!

We have a preference for brighter (sporty) colours, so never had a grey car before. However, Graphene Grey looks quite nice, so went for it. How has been your ownership experience been so far?

Is yours a DSG or a Manual?

Congratulations. Is it from a dealer that starts with a W? If yes (as that dealer has also put them up by 1K) I saw those and reserved but my local dealer price matched so cancelled.

There was a delay in delivery for me and the dealer loaned me a white V2 with a DSG box although my purchase is manual. Had the loan car for a week and it helped me to get used to the functions.

The manual is great - I have always had manuals and am 50/50. With DSG its easier to control the Adaptive Cruise Control and one less thing to think about in terms of clutch control, easier to shift out of comfort mode but as it was a loan car, my right foot was quite heavy sitting in S at every minute.

Have only done 53 miles on my purchase since collection on Saturday but I like it. It is just me and a dog but things like high beam assist, welcome home lights, the comfy seats, driving position and sensors is perfect. Plus its made me spend £65 (so far) so I can look after it better - is that a plus point?

My 2009 Civic was a one bucket wash system with a bit of snow foam. Now it will be pre-wash, alloy cleaners (PH neutral) 2 buckets with grit guards 🙄 detaling brushes and microfibre dry type of wash including interior care stuff.

I like the keyless entry and swipe to door lock and would recommend a key cover. The gloss looks like it would not be in great condition after a while - the loan car key had scuffs all down the back.

The app is ok, I have a service call in as it does not update and the lock unlock function on the app does not work.

A slight howling sound from front brakes, eitjer bedding in issue which will go away or a dust guard issue.

Good luck with collection, let us know how you get on!

Thanks - yes, ours is from that dealer. Must say that their service has been superb so far. First, we put a deposit down on a Magnetic Tech Grey but then switched to the Graphene Grey, which was the right decision, and looking at the photograph of your Formentor certainly confirms it. (y)

When was yours built? Ours had its Location Sticker still stuck to the rear passenger window, plus it also had all its delivery protection still intact when the salesman sent me a video of the car. As such, we had early visibility of the Formentor's VIN, build date, and other pertinent info, which I enjoy collecting - still have the location sticker from a car that was built in 2003, which I have owned since 2011!

It's fantastic to hear that you too got one with a manual gearbox. Let's compare notes after a few miles. I will try to get as much wheel time, especially during the running-in period, as I can - it will be my wife's daily driver, so may prove to be a challenge, but one can only try. :)

I prefer cars with manual gearboxes, as does my wife. I also prefer them to be RWD, lightweight, handle well, and fairly compact. As such, the Formentor with a manual box was the perfect choice, and, as I understand it, the V2 is the top spec for ones with a manual box, which at the price we paid, was an obvious choice.

So, given that we are not as dedicated as you appear to be, ours will get a full ceramic coating (exterior, interior, and wheels), a couple of days after picking it up, which will make it relatively maintenance free, and given that we are likely to cover around 6,000 miles a year, should hold up well for a few years. Let's see...

Would be great if you could post your thoughts on my thread (link below) where I raised some specific questions related to the experience of driving one with a manual gearbox, and your feedback would be even better since you experienced the DSG first so you will be able to make a direct comparison between the two:
New to CUPRA - picking up our Formentor V2 next weekend

When I'am not mistaken, all software updates are over the air. You don't need to do anything to receive the latest version.

Hi all,
Back on this forum after many years away approximately 16 years, just purchased a new formentor V3 1.5 dsg with a few xtras, spare wheel, sunroof and sound system fitted, in magnetic grey, dealer was doing a half decent discount on it so traded my Audi A3 saloon in, cash price for CUPRA was £32,300, do you think this is a good price?, I needed a decent sized hatchback was the reason for changing. Hoping it will be as reliable as my Audi, should be considering it has the same engine.

Had mine for just over 18mths and not a big fan and won't purchase another. Mine is the hybrid and only charges at 3.5KW, fully charged only giving 22 miles this time of year. The entertain buttons are slow to react so you end up waiting for a few seconds for it to catch us but that could be down to my lack of patience! Overall not satisfied and I can't wait to hand it back.

I am here from Audi Q3 45 TFSI vorsprung.
2.0 EA888 gen3 engine
I absolutely like my Formentor VZN which also has newer 2.0 EA888 gen4 engine.
There is nothing to dislike. Only few things compared to Audi like missing rear ambient / foot well lightning, no lining in glove box or door bins. Rest it's same car.
