Cheers.

Just so that I get a better understanding, how does one know whether SFD/SFD2 applies - is it a date, model, specific identifier/option code ?

Cheers

Good morning. The legal deadline for the EU was July 1, 2024 for UNECE and SFD2. However, the group has converted some models earlier. An authorized dealer can see this using the VIN, for example.

The general rule is that for 18" wheels, 355mm rotors are the biggest that will fit.

From here >> https://www.brakes-shop.com/brakepe...Lw9PRIzjv4d-jYhGkRb_NKcVqK82VrX_WKSjAopEAwNQN

To start, a general guideline is that most big brake kits usually require the following:

  • 328mm rotor (12.9") - minimum 17" wheel
  • 332mm rotor (13.1") - minimum 17" wheel
  • 355mm rotor (14") - minimum 18" wheel
  • 380mm rotor (15") - minimum 19" wheel
Thanks for this detail, much clearer now.
I think that the fit will be also subject to the ET and canal width of the rim itself.
Do you have any recommendation on which brand should i look for in terms of performances around 350mm rotor ?

Thanks

Hi Fabio,

No problem.

As to what is the best setup/brand, I can't assist there I'm sorry. I only fitted the factory Performance Pack brakes (340x30mm front & 310 x 22mm rear with factory calipers) as I only have 18" factory rims, and these were easy to fit myself.
Even this is overkill for general driving, but there are some great hills near where I live in Australia, and I like decent brakes, so these will be good enough for that purpose.

Can you read your ABS coding?

All information without warranty, guarantee, legal claim or anything else ;)

MQB37W ABS 5WA614517 Length 34 bytes

Brake VA Byte 4 // Mirror Byte?

Pr Code: 1LD,1LG(340x30mm) // Byte 4 : HEX 56 //

PR Code: 1ZK,1ZU(312x25mm) // Byte 4 : HEX 32 //

PR Code: 1ZE(288x25mm) // Byte 4 : HEX 22 //

PR Code: 1ZA,1ZB(306x26mm) // Byte 4 : HEX 42 // not confirmed, speculation

Brake HA Byte 14 // Mirror Byte?

PR Code: 1KE,2EC(272x10mm) // Byte 14 : HEX A1 //

PR Code: 1KY,1KJ(310x22mm) // Byte 14 : HEX 41 //

In my coding in the front ones, byte 4 matches PR Code: 1ZA,1ZB(306x26mm) // Byte 4 : HEX 42, before that it has the 306mm brakes.

In byte 14 I have HEX value 61.

Is the value of the front 370mm not known?

which vehicle exactly? VIN? which PR codes? I got this data from my documents of vehicles that I had on the cable. Be careful, it is not easy to change the solution bytes 04 and 14. The VIN and the model etc. are stored in the ABS coding. If it is not plausible or if the hardware and software are designed for it, no coding will be accepted. So do not code haphazardly

If it's true that you have a Leon 1P, please don't write in this topic. You have a completely different ABS with a completely different byte explanation 🤦 @ozu

my VIN is this VSSZZZKL1PR042741, I did not encode anything, just extract the encoding that obdeleven returns. I'm still somewhat new to these and I don't get what I would like.

My ABS module is 5WA614517BL and my coding is 34042C984224426E527E640426C461864DB258554AC8E70821BCA431018FF100001C38

I have both, in the 1P they coded my ABS at the dealership when changing the brake fluid. In the ABS module I only go in to look at faults or some basic adjustment when the car runs out of battery.

Do you already have a UNECE model? If so, there's no need for coding anyway.

So the following has emerged. Even in the MQB EVO generation, the chassis is noted in the byte for the rear brake:

MQB37W ABS 5WA614517 Length 34 bytes

Brake VA Byte 4 // Mirror Byte?

Pr Code: 1LD,1LG(340x30mm) // Byte 4 : HEX 56 //

PR Code: 1ZK,1ZU(312x25mm) // Byte 4 : HEX 32 //

PR Code: 1ZE(288x25mm) // Byte 4 : HEX 22 //

PR Code: 1ZA,1ZB(306x26mm) // Byte 4 : HEX 42 // not confirmed, speculation

PR Code: 1LE(370x32mm) // Byte 4 :
HEX ??

Brake HA Byte 14 // Mirror Byte?

PR Code: 1KE,2EC(272x10mm) with PR Code 1JC // Byte 14 : HEX A1 //

PR Code: 1KE,2EC(272x10mm) with PR Code 1JP // Byte 14 : HEX 61 //

PR Code: 1KY,1KJ(310x22mm) with PR Code 1JP // Byte 14 : HEX 41 //

I have received the information that supposedly only byte 04 declares brake HA bit 0-3 and brake VA bit 4-7. That means it would be the following information

Byte 04 Bit 0-3 = HA

HEX ?2 = PR-Code: 1KE,2EC(272x10mm)

HEX ?6 = PR-Code: 1KY,1KJ(310x22mm)

Byte 04 Bit 4- 7 = VA

HEX 5? = PR-Code: 1LD,1LG(340x30mm)

HEX 2? = PR-Code: 1ZE(288x25mm)

HEX 4? = PR-Code: 1ZA,1ZB(306x26mm

HEX 3? = PR Code: 1ZK,1ZU(312x25mm)
