Hello,

This is my first time writing here so be more gentle with me :D.

So I have Leon Cupra ST 2016 290 with leaking front shocks, I have a guy selling me front and back shocks from Golf 6R which kinda looks the same. My question is did somebody tried it before and will they work, because the OEM numbers are not the same.

I also removed the mid resonator and the car is still pretty quiet. Can you give some advice, should i remove the back end and straight pipe it?

Thanks in advance.

Hi,

Avoid those shocks from a Golf 6 - different platform, neither Bilstein or Sachs list shocks that fit the Cupra and the Golf mk6 - only mk7.

If you have the electrical adjustable shocks there are now aftermarket options from Monroe and Bilstein.

No idea on your exhaust.

They are both build by monroe and i thought they match, I am in the aftermarket parts bussines, but because these were OEM i thought i`d give it a go.

If they were from the MK7 golf R I would say it could be an option - but not from the Golf MK6 R.

What is the part number on these golf shocks?

Monroe only link these to MK6 Golf's and older platform VAG cars - NOT our Leon or any MQB cars.
I would avoid.

MK6 or Mk7? Mk7 they would fit, cause they'd be based on the same MQB platform, you might find some from an Audi S3 or an optioned Octavia VRS. But if its the MK6 golf they won't fit

Autodoc do the Monroe shocks pretty cheap. That’s where I bought mine from recently for my Cupra 280. You could try a backbox delete. I found the res delete was enough for me. Backbox delete would be too loud. Get someone else to drive your car, and listen to it while you’re outside the car, like a drive by. You’ll get a better understanding of the sound then. Even when I’m a passenger in the rear of my car, it’s much louder than in the drivers seat, understandably of course.
