Hi, so sorry to hear you are having this issue. I had all the EV batteries replaced along with some other components. I have not had any issues since. The warning has not appeared again. However unlike your issue when the warning came on my vehicle I could not start the car at all, it was a dead brick. There was definitely something wrong with my batteries, and since the replacement I can see them charging from re-generation (braking etc...) and that never happened before the batteries where replaced. The 12v battery was also replaced as part of the work. Hope this helps but if you need any further info I will happily try and help.

Hope you get sorted soon.

Thank you so much! Yes, I still have the braking re-generation charging functioning. Booked an appointment at the garage - first available is 12 September (living in France, and not a huge choice nearby), so will see what they stay. At least it is still under warranty. If I get the "electric drive not working" message again, I will just call the VW/SEAT breakdown service from the garage and hopefully they'll have to deal with it more quickly. Thanks again!

Hi, had this issue yesterday on cupra leon. No problems up to that point (6months old). Went to start car and this message came up. Wouldn’t start and wouldn’t let me charge. Disconnected 12v battery for 15mins, reconnected and warning came straight back on.

Had a roadside VW technician come and got it running within a few minutes! Apparently mine is a software issue where it will only recognise electric power to start the car so when the battery pack is empty (most of the time seen as though you only get 30miles) the car won’t start and eventually runs the 12v battery down.

FIX - to override and get the car to start using the petrol engine you simply press the break pedal and the accelerator to the floor together, then press and hold the stop/start button.

Car starts up straight away but then you need to take the car for a good run or leave running long enough for the 12v to recharge.

Apparently this is a software issue on all the 2024 hybrid models with no update from VW yet.

Hope this helps someone!

So my car currently has this same issue. It came on about 7 weeks ago and it went into the dealership last week (first available appointment to be looked at).

My car is currently 3 years and 3 months old, I have however taken out the Seat Extended Warranty.

Initial diagnosis from the dealer is a leak of the HV battery coolant over the HV batteries. Further investigation is needed to detect the source of the leak and shall take around 4 hours, it will only be at that point after the investigation if they will be able to establish if it's a warranty issue or not.
