Hi, I am upgrading to a MIB2 system from my basic 5.8inch without navigation. I need to install a GPS antenna into the dashboard, under the speaker grill in the center. What is the part number for that?

Also, did anyone install an aftermarket one that works? Where can I buy one?

Thank you for the help.

Aftermarket ones leave a "GPS antenna open circuit" fault in infotainment control unit, due to the voltage difference.
Nothing to worry about but some people care about things like this.

I replaced the factory GPS antenna with an aftermarket one on my previous 2014 Leon, no errors showed at all in the infotainment module (MIB1)

Then I have to change my wording as "some of the aftermarket ones".

I upgraded my infotainment unit from MIB2 Std (no nav) to MIB2 High (with nav).
Retrofitter guys installed an aftermarket one and it caused a fault in the unit (checked using OBDEleven) and it's still there.
Later I bought an original one but haven't installed it yet.

Can an aftermarket antenna be mounted in the same slot? I guess not? Im a bit terrified of more rattles inside the cabin 😅 and i’m wondering how well it sits in the dash.

I don't remember exactly but I believe they have mounted it using something like a double-sided tape.
No rattles.

Does it have to be installed in a certain orientation or just wherever I find a spot as close to the top of the dash?

At first, they were about to mount it under the right A-pillar cover but I told them to put it in the original place and they were like "Oh, OK".
Then I asked the same thing about the orientation and they mumbled something so I got the feeling that it doesn't matter.

Oh I see. Thank for the help, Ill try the aftermarket antenna first since its dirt cheap and see how it works.
