Dropped my wheels off for powder coating. Got loaner wheels overnight! Shoddy old Audi rims 😂

Had a look at the tires while they were getting taken off, and I'm glad I did! Rear passenger side had a flat spot and cracked part up the middle of the tire!! Luckily was able to source a PS4S to arrive tomorrow to replace it! Hopefully that explains the noise which I thought was a wheel bearing.

Wheels finished and I'm ecstatic with the results! 😍 Amazing match with the Seat copper/bronze colour. Not gonna be everyone's cup of tea but that's what modifying cars is all about!

Would highly recommend the place that got it done for me, took 4 months of trial and error to get it across the line but well worth the wait. If anyone from Glasgow is looking for a wheel refurb I can pass on the details.

I really like them. Makes me regret selling mine and not doing the same thing! (I have an ST in the same colour)

Thanks! I was a bit worried they would be too much but really like them on the car. Took about 3 months of trialling paints and powders to finally get this match and I'm glad we persevered.

They look really nice. How much did you pay? I need to get mine done, somewhere in the Midlands area and need loan wheels

Was £250 for wheels to get done but because it's a one off the powder was £140. I'm in Glasgow so probably no use for you unfortunately. They lent me wheels for overnight to keep me on the road, which was great!

After the recent VC Revision A upgrade, today I finished installation and coding of a MIB 2 High Harman unit, replacing my original MIB 2 Std Preh unit. I used a no-name Chinese GPS antenna and it is working, but left an open-circuit fault in the unit, so I'm going to replace it with a genuine VAG part later. Unit is an older build (2015) than I would like to use but I couldn't find a newer one. It required a lot of fiddling to have the instrument cluster settings option in two different places on the menu but we managed to get it right.

A curious discovery is that they seem to have dropped the compass icon from the Rev A software. It doesn't show up at the upper left corner of the central info section of cluster, where it used to reside. Of course I have the option of placing the compass in the center of left or right dial but having it always-on in the top was a more friendly UI decision, I think.

Another change is that the G-meter is no longer included in the list of items that can be placed in the dial centers. It only shows up in Sport driving mode and that's valid only if you selected Auto mode in customisable views.

Anyway, as I now have on-board navigation, my next project is activating the pACC system.

Thanks very much for sharing.

I am sure you have all seen it but if not the Spanish Seat forum did a great job at creating OBD11/VCDS Scans of multiple cars which can be found here https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/18riGBuLltlpZEw11XyM6FqBaFbumcchh they also do other makes of MQB Platform cars but I have found it very useful to look at this data.

Fitted my huge concoction of brake parts:
- Aston Martin DB9 Calipers
- HEL braided lines
- Audi RS3 carriers
- RacingLine floating bells
- Reyland Motorsport custom machined 370mm plain discs
- VCDS coding for 370mm setup

Just need to modify my TTRS disc guards, or buy later RS3 guards now!

Should really clean the car!
That looks brilliant, are you having to run any sort of spacer to clear the caliper with the FR wheels?

I run the 18" FR wheels as winters on my Cupra and have been wanting to go to a bigger brake setup but nothing I'd seen so far would fit.

Thrown bottle of Redline Si-1 System Cleaner in hopes to improve my fuel economy.

also random question but on the motorway at say 70mph, does 2 cylinder mode kick in for you?

Even with cruise control on my 1.5 150bhp at steady 65-70 doesn’t kick in, only notice on light spirits around town.

Might be normal but I’ve heard say they experience 2 cylinder mode even at motorway speeds

Yes, it often activates at motorway speeds, depends on throttle position, gradient etc. 1.4ACT.

Hmm don’t recall seeing it often if at all unless I’m lifting off the gas as I’m slowing down for a junction or traffic ahead.

But with cruise control on at a steady speed nah

Will monitor swear this cars a lemon.

Thanks!

I'm running a 15mm spacer up front and 20mm rear, which brings the wheels out to where I think they should be anyway, but yes you'll need at least 12mm spacers to clear the calipers against the back of the spokes. I'll have a look and see how much room there is between the caliper face and rim. Should take a pic of the car as a whole too really.

Today I was on a German Autobahn doing an indicated 77mph with cruise control on, flat road and ECO light was on for a good bit of time.

Washed the car, Did an oil change yesterday so that it was ready for today's track day.

As you can see the wheels were all the color of the spare wheel this morning, seems like I will have to was the car again.

Also quick updated I replaced the Ferodo DS2500 Pads in my big brake kit with Mintex M1166 - MDB2607M1166 and they have lasted much longer than the old pads and very happy with them.

I live in the UK and got 4 new tyres fitted by Halfords last month. I had no idea what my tyre pressures were so I bought this gauge and measured the tyre pressures yesterday. The pressures were roughly:
  • Front Right: 34 psi
  • Front Left: 39 psi
  • Rear Left: 38 psi
  • Rear Right: 41 psi
The label on my fuel flap says 29 psi for the fronts and 26 psi for the rears for a partial load and as you can see my tyre pressures were noticeably off. I deflated them to ~32 for the fronts and ~30 for the rears today.
