BEATS is as good as the money it costs, its not a truly powerful, deep bass system, however it does a pretty good job considering its a low budget system. For most people its more than enough, however, if you are used to aftermarket good sound systems, as my self, you will definitely find it lacking in many areas, high and low. As said its a low cost system that will not fail you at all but will not impress you. Mine came as standard on my
Formentor so didn't have a choice and also don't know how the basic oem system sounds to compare. I knew from my Polo, on oem sound system, that the BEATS edition didn't differ much and was not worth the extra money. Could be the same with
Formentor, I don't know, but on the other hand the BEATS on the
Formentor gives a lot of choices to play around through many sound options and preferences/adjustments but is not to be considered a high end sound system, simply a nice average one.
Don't know if any sound deadening will immensely improve the sound, surely it will somehow, but don't think its worth the money, the extra weight and the undoing of the interior. If I had to upgrade I would probably first elect to replace the BEATS subwoofer with a more powerful, brand name one, but don't know if its possible or if I can find one to fit.
