Hello everyone. As i searched there are no lights in the touch bar that toggle the sound and the air condition below the touch screen in Formenton 1.5. But as you can see in the pic that i am attaching in my case i see that there are plus and minus signs that ligh up at night. Somehow ofcourse i managed to disable it and now i don't know how to turn it back on. I didn't really notice this until my wife showed me a picture taken a few days after we bought the car. Any thoughts?

Yes, it's pretty hard to believe that they don't have any illumination, however unfortunately that is the case. :(

Makes you wonder how the lack of backlighting for those controls was considered acceptable, how it got signed off for production and why it didn’t get picked up during pre-launch testing; assuming pre-launch vehicle testing included night driving (if it didn’t, then IMHO that would be a serious flaw in the test plan / program). It’s not just Cupra; other VAG brand cars with the same type of screen also lack the necessary backlighting.

The last car I had without illuminated heater controls was back in 1980…….🤔

Presumably they used the excuse that you can adjust it via the screen. It really is awful though, the design of the whole unit looks like something from the early 90's and is completely out of sync with the rest of the cabin.

Yes, the screen design is not its strong point, especially the lacking of backlit symbols, but at least has a lot of functions an its responsive enough.Anyhow its not the touchscreen that won me over, mind you I have the 12 inch, but the whole car and the performance and that's what I enjoy, I wouldn't really care much if it didn't have a touchscreen at all!

Seriously?

Even my old 70's Marina had heater controls that lit up:rolleyes:

Alright, I want to remove this screen and add backlighting behind the buttons. I believe that if someone explains how to remove the touch buttons step by step, this process can be done.

The touch surface is bonded into the display, they can't be removed to add anything behind without damage to the touch surface. That's why VW never did it, just made sense to redesign the entire thing.

The non-illumintated touch panel was introduced around 4 years ago, so I think if it was possible to add backlighting, then someone on this forum or another VAG forum would have done it before now.

I‘m on a number of VW forums and I can't recall reading of anyone that’s added backlighting - for the reasons you’ve stated above.
