I love these posts. I'm not knowledgeable enough on different parts and sizes (nor brave enough) to try things like these, but I'm more than happy to ride your coat-tails if it all works...

Any particular reason for the test or just seeing if you can chop and change certain parts? If it might help my brakes, I'm in.

I'm just lucky enough to be curious and know people willing to indulge me (this was all done at a local specialist who was breaking a Leon and a Scirocco).

As for why, part of it is the age of the Mk1 Leon, getting a decent booster and/or master cylinder is becoming expensive, the newer ones may be the better option (newer than the original equipment, cheaper than the new stuff)

Other reasons are a bit more specific.

It reroutes the lines which hopefully gives room to reroute turbo hoses (looking at running a different radpack).

Also, the one I used was from an auto which means the reservoir is capped off for the clutch line. That makes it an easy way to separate the clutch line, useful if you want to run race brake fluid etc

Pretty sure they're 8mm as when I swapped my shift arm over to a quick shift one I didn't have the right spigot so ended up drilled mine out to suit.

Got some cool photos on Monday morning before we left Le Mans.
The public road part of the track was opened again so we had to have an early morning drive round them. Be rude not to.
Also they hadn’t yet put the barriers back so I managed to get a shot on the track at Porsche curves next to our campsite.

We did a total of 1127 miles and the whole weekend only saw one other mk1 Leon which was on the M6 near Birmingham on the way down.
Car was faultless and I had no aches and pains after 14 hours. Even my 11 year old son didn’t complain once.
It also got as many looks as the hundreds of Porsche’s and many Ferrari’s and the like we saw over the weekend.
A testament to the design of the mk1 it still turns heads.

I've seen on vids ect were they updated the standard linkage not sure if it was that one your getting as it was a while ago , it made the gear change more tight than the sloppy change well on the fr pd150, that's my only issue with the Leon, cheap upgrade is that's the case i would change mine

Yeah I drove my old LC I sold to a relative the other day and the gear change was silky smooth, whereas mine is pretty notchy. Gave the linkage on top of the gearbox a pull and it moves all over the place because the rubber bushing has perished.
So was just going to get new ones but then someone on Facebook suggested just changing the bushings to the metal ones.

Thought the forum had been really quiet, but it turns out I'm not getting any notifications at all from Tapatalk - sorry to anyone who sent me a message. I thought it might have been because I got a new phone, but it's happened on both my phone and my iPad.

Anyway...

Was going to take my bonnet off to finish the paint as I got a replacement can the other day. Didn't bother in the end with the weather being so changeable, so put the replacement battery tray in instead. I've been putting it off for ages, and even though it passed its MoT without the retaining bracket, I just wanted it to be right. 10-15 minute job and it's done.

Set the time on the car and the radio and back indoors for a can of cider.

Car has been fine recently. Drove to stay with my parents a couple of days because my housemate had Covid and I really didn't want to be coming down with that again, and was getting at least mid-fifties on the MPG. Will be picking up the girlfriend's son's stuff from uni next weekend, so another bit of a run.

The car does feel a bit sluggish low down, but that's probably for the best with the price of fuel being what it is.

Yeah it's always quieter on here anyway because everyone is doing Facebook now. But you don't tend to get the arrogant tw*ts here that you get there 😂
