Not a Seat, but an interesting thread I came across. Buy the looks of it he's basically taken the car apart, refurbished or replaced and put it all back together again over the last couple of years!
Up to page 20 so far, although I'm not a huge mk1 TT fan the level of work the owner has carried out is superb and right up my street.

Three days later, I've finally gone through all 85 pages.

It's really impressive - and I'd love to do a nut and bolt restoration - although maybe not on a Leon. I've got a lot of work to do restoring my paint. I'd love to have that kind of finish.

His TT has the BFV engine as well, which is just a BAM with a 238hp ECU. Would be nice to plug one of those in and get a cheapo upgrade

Well i jumped in the motor this morning and the light came straight on and stayed on all the way to work. About 12-15 miles.

Got in it and drove home and light stayed off.
Its going in, in the morning for a plug in to see whats occurring.

We'll see.

Had the car on the ramp for a check over as no work booked in found one rear anti roll bar bracket was just hanging there somehow had come off the axel at the bottom found it had a crack in it and had opened up and did not grab on to the axel any more removed cleaned up and welded it back together and refit and then also found my front two winter tyres had split’s in down to cords so removed them wheels put summer wheels back on and got two new winter tyres fitted from a tyre place as the company’s we used did not have any in stock grr

Garage sead 02 sensor bank 1 intermittent.
So thats the one at the top of the downpipe nearest the turbo. Is there anything else in the circuit that could throw that fault up?
Booked it in for a couple of weeks time to get it replaced.

fitted a creations motorsport bleeder block along with new slave recently, if anyone feels like going for the block it doesnt fit unless your grind some gearbox material down. worth it though as the bite point is smack bang in the middle.

I don't think so. Have a look at the sensor for the cause though though - mine went when the turbo died because it got covered in oil. Cleaned it up and it worked fine again.

Did you have smoke?
Im hoping my turbo is ok, got no smoke here. No wierd noises and the car still pulls ok.
I did think for the last few weeks that i was at the fuel pumps a lot more than usual but i put that down to fuel prices.

Spent what feels like hours looking for oil and every time I find a new site, everything I think I know is totally contradicted.

I put Mobil 1 ESP 5w-30 when I last did the oil in 2019 (yes, I know...), but some sites say for VAG cars I should be using 5w-40 while others stick slavishly to the 505.01 and 507.00 and I haven't got a clue what to use now.

I'm wondering whether the age and type of oil might have something to do with my running issues, so want to be absolutely sure I've got the best possible one in there.

I’m up for new discs n pads on fronts.
Currently Carbotech xp10’s but they have gone off a bit. Separating from the backing plate.

Currently running EBC Bluestuff, going to hammer on them a fair bit before I can comment further.

Discs, I just use bog stock ones because it suits my braking style

With track day season starting for me on Feb 25th, it’s time to get some work done on the old girl!

mots been off the road for 4 months. It’s needs a fair bit of money spending on it so I’ve started on the brakes.

im on my 3rd set of Ferodo 1.11’s and they’ve been great. But at around £270 a set now it’s just too much money. So this time I’ve opted for PBS pro race at £130. Hopefully these will be good!!

I’ve not long has Tarox f2000 discs fitted so I’m sticking with them. There is minimal wear on them anyway.

last time out @ Oulton, I was getting brake fade which is unusual, plus the ABS was kicking in quite frequently.. again quite unusual. So I’ve decided to get the brembo calipers rebuilt with a refurb kit, and new fluids too. From the looks of things the pistons and seals are knackered!

unfortunately the front right tyre is churned up on the inside so again with limited funds I’ve decided to replace my Yoko AD08RS Tyres with Zestino semi slicks.. which are a good bang for buck, according to the reviews I’ve seen!
Once that’s all done, it’s MOT time then I’m ready to rock! 🏁🏁

been using Castrol EDGE 5w-30 since 2011 when tiring to find what was used before i contacted all the seat garages that serviced it 6 times and there was 2 and that was not much help but the only idea i got off the guys who service talking to them was that grade so stuck with that but i did use a engine flush first but not done it since as its not a good idea to flush engine allot as you just let the oil build protection, only reason i wanted to know is as dropping too a thinner oil from say the 5-40 it can cause more harm due too burning more oil as the engine was run on that from say new, so if your not burning oil allot and the PD engine can as its natural with that engine but i don't burn that much between service as allot say, also Quantum oil seat sell is Castrol oil, and i change the oil and filter every 12 months but I've i have said that before

This a good site https://www.opieoils.co.uk/ i think there still on here
