I’m going to the garage where my car is on Monday to fit the new rear seat back rest myself.
They’re too busy to do it, so I said I don’t mind doing it but will have to do it there cause I don’t want to drive back and forward.
What tools will I need to do it?
is it literally the Allen screw fixings on either side or is that wishful thinking?

Even easier, take a flat blade screwdriver.

Fold seat down (including seat cushions). You should see on the innermost side a sliding bit, looks sort of like a boot catch. Push that down and lift up that side of the seat back. Then pull away from the door side. Done. Then Haynes the replacement

No visible leaks, so thats the vacuum servo full of brake fluid then.

Both my rear door solenoids have packed up. So now my car is a 3 door. It'll be staying like that till the summer!

The solenoid on my nearside door has been squeaking for years when I lock the car. It’s only a matter of time until it packs in. The offside door works, but the switch doesn’t detect that the door is open, so no puddle light and the alarm goes off if you don’t open another door first.

The rear doors are such a pain to change the locks on but I know it’s going to have to happen soon.

Ahh dammit, just weighing the seat back from mine (15.8kg and 5.4kg in case people wondered how heavy the rear seat back is) and I realised I got the instructions wrong.

The catch is on the door side of the respective parts so fold down, flip the catch, lift clear then pull out towards the door.

Went to the paint shop last Thursday and just yhe doors to be done, then it's a case of putting her back together, so hopefully have her back next week I'm thinking.

• H&R front and rear antiroll bars (and new droplinks): Brilliant - the car feels like it has new suspension, as if it's just come out of the showroom. Feels as if someone has transferred MkV or Mk VI Golf suspension across. Everything feels tighter, sharper and more composed.

• Badger v3 oversize TIP: you need to fit this if you still have the OEM pipe. Feels like an extra 10 horsepower easy, and I'm still using the OEM airbox.

Good luck trying to find the limit - I've been hunting down various b-roads and I still don't feel like I'm close to it letting go - and believe me, I'm trying. It's not like I've got super sticky tyres or anything either.

When I fitted the rear, I took the car on some roads near my parents where I know there are two sweeping 90 degree bends that the car always has trouble with understeer on. It just gripped.

Good luck trying to find the limit - I've been hunting down various b-roads and I still don't feel like I'm close to it letting go - and believe me, I'm trying. It's not like I've got super sticky tyres or anything either.

Yeah, there's a massive long curved sliproad on the way back from the garage onto the motorway. 45 is what you can probably get away with on a cold winter's day but I looked down and was doing 55 and could easily go faster

I think that fitting the Badger5 tip made more noticable difference than all of the mods ive done to my car

I thought that the oversize TIPs weren't a great fit with the OEM air box. Did they have any issues fitting it?
I'm running an open cone with my V3 TIP, but have considered going back to the airbox to reduce the induction noise. Must be getting old!!

No, I think the V2 was a bit fiddly but the V3 seems to be fine. Garage only charged half an hour / £32.50 too.

Good stuff with the handling arb’s. They do make a big difference.
Now you’ll have to lift off mid corner to have it step out
People always impressed when on track how stable the back end of my car is.
K brace is your next step.
For an extra 40 quid add Whiteline Racing front control arm bushes with added castor.
Turn in changes with less front end oversteer.
Car feels much more planted.
A great mod that makes a difference that’s cheap as chips.
I have a set of H&R springs if you’re interested. Not worth paying for postage tbh but
If you’re down south you could grab them and just give us a drink.
As for the Badger5 tip.
Is your car mapped?
If not it’s probably not giving a real gain. Maybe the mind playing tricks.
I think my car maybe lost a few brake prior to mapping with all the mods attached.
Maybe you’re lucky.

Certainly, if it’s fitted with an open cone and a heat shield you will see gains of upto 8 poss 10 brake in the end. But usually after a map. Maybe half that or less while standard.
Heat shield is so important too with open cone. otherwise you can be looking at deduction in power once again.
If sticking with the air box, try a Green Panel filter.
These are pretty efficient and give the best air flow for the standard box.

Yeah have to agree this is a great mod, the difference upgraded anti roll bars make is insane, I have a couple of really tight corners near me before doing these mods the car would wann break on them corners now it just laughs and says that all you got lol, I even upgraded my struts to st by kw after a chat with damein at dmp as I didn't like the harshness of bumps( getting older) great choice he talked me out of expensive billstain ones and that again has made the car stick like clue.

I'm not interested in the springs myself (not that you were asking me!) but I'm just curious as to where 'dahn sarf' is for you? Being in Brighton it gets a little lonely with all these northern monkeys

The rear ARB is the only thing I've done to the car that's made me even consider a track day. I'd love to push the car hard now - maybe after I finally fit the new clutch and DMF I might get a remap and see what the car can do.

Did a drive out to Gatwick and back to give the car a chance to get warmed up and stretch its legs ahead of the MoT. I'll be picking up a new air filter from Euros tomorrow as well, as it can't do any harm on the emissions front. The one I've got in there now is two and a half years old and while I've not done any big miles since then, it probably needs it. I really need to start writing the date on the air filter housing - time flies by.

Fuel consumption is getting better with all the vacuum line changes and sorting boost leaks. It's still not back up to 54mpg but 48mpg isn't too bad in this weather.
