Hermes used to be great at collecting and then about 6 months ago they just stopped. I had a couple of parcels go uncollected and had to take them to the shop. They've put lockers in my local Tesco now luckily, but you can't fit long stuff like ARBs in them.

Speaking of which, just got a text saying Euro Car Parts will be bringing mine tomorrow 😂

The car is back in the workshop. Had a company called SVG Motorsport do some extra work for me. They welded in the seat rails and gussets to the door bar crossed. So threw the pedals in and the gear stick.....

Don't talk to me about roll bars. Bought a rear ARB from a forum member and Hermes was supposed to collect on Saturday. They didn't. When I complained and said I wanted my money back, they said they'd collect yesterday. They didn't.

I haven't ordered from Venom, no, but I'm hearing lots of suppliers are having trouble getting stock of lots of things at the moment.

Then I spent half of yesterday morning calling round garages to find out if anyone in the greater Brighton and Hove area has VAGCOM and the only place that can do diagnostics is the dealership, who want £110. Bought a cable from Gendan for £20 and borrowing my other half's son's laptop (I'm a Mac user). From the sound of things the 1M Leon doesn't use CAN to communicate, which means a cheaper cable.

If it works, I'll be made up. I'm actually hoping for a stack of codes.

That's really good news - I'm not too concerned about all the functions - just getting an idea of anything that's lurking in the background that's enough to cause problems but not throw an engine light.

Does VCDS Lite give live readings? I'd just like to see if it can tell me anything about boost or if the injectors are doing what they're supposed to.

I'll have to look into Bootcamp - if it saves me buying a PC, that's even more money saved.

dont expect to see much more than basic stuff with the free version, at least it will give you accurate codes.

get a boost gauge, easiest way to see what the car is doing

I've had a boost gauge in my parts box for about a year now - I have to work out the electrical side of things, but I think I also have to take the windscreen wiper scuttle out to route the wires, which I just haven't had the energy and patience to do lately.

Is it just me, or does anyone else have a real mental block when it comes to car electrics?

Well, the first of my purchases arrived. It's a Maxton Design front splitter. Looks good aesthetically but I'm less than impressed with the quality. Just seems extremely flimsy so will have to figure out how to add some strength and maybe improve the aero factor too

Unfortunately that seems to be the general consensus with the Maxton Design products and I've read a lot of posts regarding these splitters obliterating on the first bit of contact.

I'm just glad I didn't pay full price (or have anything more expensive than the basic version). Ah well, what's done is done
