Formentor System Errors

For comparison. Apart from the software version note device part number ends in H.
View attachment 27469
It's normal in mib2 that the apparent hardware part number increments with a software release. Truth is the device part number reflects the software and hardware. It's like the mib2 map releases its read from the software update and thrown up as a part number. So the tail end letter increments with the firmware code. I've had that as I increment thru the mib2 high firmware. 1804 in this case is the firmware also showing in the tail letter of the device part number.

Today, car infuriated me enough to book service appointment and try to reject it . Yesterday, everything was working, today when I got into the car whole aircon/heating was greyed out. Switching off and on didn't help, so I drove withouth HVAC to work. 3 miles from home got speaker pop and comm module went out and never came back. At my next stop, virtual pedal and keyless locking and unlocking didn't work. Hvac returned after short stop, but keyless still didn't work at next arrival point.

So far, car was relatively ok, then pops from the speakers started after a few months and now this. It annoyed me, because I didn't have time to play with it, getting out, switching off and on, etc. I don't understand, why it's getting worse over time.

Non stop fun. I thought you'd already rejected it.

Might be the battery on the keyless, Kessy is heavy on the battery. You won't get more than 12 months out of battery, less on cheaper batteries. Just changed the Arona batteries again this week. 3.3v on new ones, starts moaning at 3.1v. Early Ateca's you dont get a message apart from in Obdeleven and it playing up otherwise. Would have thought the Formentor would give you a splash screen but they may have left it off.

Virtual pedal on the perfect 2016 Ateca can play up once in a blue moon, goes to sleep, opening by hand fixes the logic in it. They do have a sleep mode on the doors to protect the battery which means you have to go round to the drivers side to open. Some Leon4s reckon had this installed backwards so you had to unlock on the passenger side if in power saving mode.

If the electronics in the car is playing up it defeats all logic 🤣.

I doubt it has anything to do with battery in key, it's only 8 months old. And definitely not related to new issues. HVAC didn't work again after restart at petrol station. I learned that booking service is more hassle than driving car that doesn't work randomly. Euroseat Crawley said, that they don't offer loan cars and you can't wait on site. I asked them if they wanted me to walk home 15 miles then.

So, when I cool down, I will look for another dealer, but this time, will start conversation with question about loan car. Someone complained that they got Ibiza on loan, that's better than nothing.

I didn't get rid of the car using preferential early termination, because VWFS failed to provide purchase quote to the dealer. Without their cooperation, it was impossible to make it work. But after reading that number of people managed to reject their cars, I will try this route now.
---------------------
I managed to book the car into Citygate Twickenham, but it's in November. Apparently they expect SOS software update soon, but don't know when.

I prefer non chain dealers where their profit / loss may be more finely tuned by local owners getting rid of staff that don't perform. The one went thru quite a few staff when privately owned.... although the drivers use to give me the Intel on what was wrong.

Obdeleven scan would tell you whether the remote batteries are low. Might be worth a check. How I do mine since it isn't brought out as a warning.... & the scan will show all the other errors you didn't know you had 🤣.

Dealer who didn't offer loan car was small one. Called bigger chain and no problem with cars.
Here they would bring me back on a farm tracker 🤣. The staff know everybody that drives past and waves at them. If you are having a conversation outside they wave and gives the thumbs up to those that drive past.... all part of aftercare. I'm intrigued as to how they are handling current issues.

Mind you if there are that many issues with these vehicles they would soon run out of loan cars 🙄.

That use to be a Halford's workshop trick in Chelmsford to refit the steering wheel 30° out on my old ZX after working on it 🙄. I'd get it sorted at next service if not before or on one of those software update fixes.

Not really an error as such but had a little over the update today and oh look, the “close” button doesn’t work. Untidy programming and another reason for me to hate this car. No excuse for slapdash implementation. Don’t even know what it updated apart from “fixing errors”. That covers a broad spectrum on this pile of shite

It's a bit of a problem over the BMW... VAG have 23 months to sort out their problems to stop you 🙄. I had two errors on my 2017 Ateca in two months from the last scan. Trusty bus error that I ignore (just oncel in that period) and ABS just the once, tyre pressure, forgot to reset on pumping them up... compares quite favourably with Formentor numbers 😉. Remote batteries fine.... what I was checking for. Evidently VAG ignore VCDS errors in their system 🤐. Think the average for Formentor's is 100s 😅.

In Seat's defence they were quite useless in their Android apps for Mib2 so it promised to be interesting how they faired with connected cars. It would be fine if the stuff that goes wrong was an adjoint to the rest but it seems pretty core like the car breaks down. Going to keep mine running for quite sometime before I leap into EV motoring and a different MQB platform from the trusty one Ateca's are on.

Funnily enough, my wife’s Ateca has thrown up a couple of errors in the last month. Nothing drastic showing on OBDeleven but will keep an eye on it.
My last 290 was fine until the week before it went back, had the dreaded water pump leak thing but apart from that it was faultless, probably because it was nice and simple lol
I really do dislike this car. From an operating view as opposed to a driving view it’s possible the worst car I’ve ever had and I’ve had a few!
I can’t see it but I hope that manufacturers steer away from the “all in one” screen thing. I know it makes commercial sense but I find it quite dangerous. I thought I’d get used to it over a period of time but no. I just hate it even more lol

The Ateca's one just now and again. The odd bus error once every six months. Battery remote warning at just over a year. Got a mechanical warning with a stuck valve once reported. Cleared it down, never reappeared. Good for the mods and running checks before a service. It picked up the build fault of not having the heated ring mirror plugged in. Was able to tell the dealer that 😉.

The Formentor guys get very long lists compared as reported here. It will be all part of the issue. Dealers can't run through the lists that you read about here. Errors become the norm on the MQB Evo platform so it seems.
