Ran the mop over my Misty/hazy spots on the bonnet with t cut on first then washed and dried the heads then gave it two passes with super resin polish on. Mist gone but I have highlighted some peeling breaking through, a good sand and some clear coat me thinks, then repeat it to blend it’s so much more satisfying to look at

Scariest thing starting the car up after changing this.

Decided to loop the hose round to avoid any kinks rather than try to shape it into the 's' it was originally, but it all seems to work fine with no leaks and the engine actually seems to run smoother too - but that might just be in my head. Revved it hard - sorry neighbours - and nothing came squirting out, so I think that's OK. Will be keeping a really close eye on it on the first drive.

Was going to do the return line that comes from the fuel temperature sensor to the hard lines, but a closer look suggests it's not a normal spring clip but one I'd probably have to pry apart.

Decided to quit while I was ahead. Will probably do the filter to fuel line hoses tomorrow as they're looking properly perished, but they don't seem to be leaking.

Engine cover material arrived today too, so will have a beer while trying to cut out the holes for the oil filler cap and the rubber mounting bungs.

Maybe that's something to do after the beer actually...

them are the clips I used they nicked the hose and they were not all that tight, we’re did you get the foam from?

I wanted to get some Murray clamps as they're supposed to be 'non-marring', but they don't have stuff like that at Halfords, so just got the fuel clamps they had. No issues so far, but I did notice that I can still twist the hose, but that might be because there's diesel on the pipe though. It'll be straightforward enough to get some and change it over. The old hose clips wouldn't really go over the new hose, or if they did, they wouldn't go over the knurled end of the pipe, depending on how I played it. In hindsight I might be able to get them on if I'm creative.

The engine cover material I got from a company on eBay called Car Insulation. It's 'GlassMAT' engine insulation and cost £15.99 for what will probably do the job twice.

The old stuff I had was really think and was probably the reason my hoses were leaking anyway - you can see the imprint of the fuel lines in the material and the diesel so it was obviously putting pressure on the hoses.

I've had the engine cover off for the past week while I was waiting to get the new material, so with the new material and the new hose, I'm hoping that's my problem solved - and maybe it might help with the stuttering too.

If I can change the other fuel hoses, I'll probably put all this in as well...

probably cheap i tried a couple clips, will have a look at that , when i use to go to vita foam there was nothing suitable and there was a lot of different foams,
That forta use tobe trade only use too get it off a garage for the clio16v made a big different but need to give a good run for it to work correct cleaned the cat as well used it before mot, also used the engine flush when i first got the car and still got one other bottle and some power steering system treatment but not used it as i have had no issues with the power steering it was for the clio at the time.

Looks good just hope the adhesive is good as they say, cat? Ones Cat was removed when ones turbo was replaced due too thrust bearing,better in third now than second as a st220 found out today lol

It's almost like you saw me in the kitchen last night trying to get the old adhesive off the engine cover.

Sticks to the engine cover, and worst of all, my fingers, like **** on a blanket, but didn't stick to the actual foam.

I've half a mind to take the cat out when I get the car up on axle stands next when I change the intercooler pipe and put the new front shocks on - just make sure it's still OK and the nuts and bolts aren't too buggered.

Looking forward to taking a huge dump on the next MoT emissions test, and with the shocks and boost pipes all as they should be, it'll drive like new as well.

Finally feels like I'm getting this car back to how it should be.

Beating the jammed with rust brake pad free on the rear passenger brake caliper (the hot one!)
Genuine Bosch (made in china) rusted to fcuk.
So some more hate for chinese parts, whatever the brand name.

you’ll need too remove that part of the exhaust section,get this https://www.actioncan.com/product/rp-90/ best release spray I’ve used really does eat rust and releases then use Copper grease on the bolts when fitting back I did same on egr bolts makes a world of difference removing even refitting,
and you’ll need a long screwdriver too smash the cat out wear gloves though.

It's a pretty good feeling - once I get this done, it's just a few other things and a bit of a respray and after then it's just dealing with whatever comes up next and general servicing.

Boost gauge is definitely going in one I have the time though - I need to see what's going on while I'm driving the car, that's for sure.

I've got sp90 as well but only use it on say rubber/plastics ect like window regulator when i did locks and inside of the handles also good for refitting them breather pipes back on egr ect you can even use it on the dash lol, if you want a good allrounder Get AC90 its allot better than WD40, you know the same person who bought WD40 in the country back in 70s started Action can, tried most of there products the ZG90 zinc spray is class on bare metal
