I normally go to Motest in Bracknell and those guys have always been understanding and accommodating by letting the car idle for a long time before testing and it always passed.
This time I had to go to a local mot place and mentioned the sports cat. I just got a blank reply about emissions of “well it is what it is” which didn’t inspire confidence.
It seemed to pass again with no dramas. Numbers below. I don’t know how close these figures are (fast idle CO looks quite high but the others look fine)

Mine with all bolt on mods, 200 cell cat and AMD stage1 map flew through its mot with no problems.

Im wondering weather a trip to Badger5 (stage2) may tip it over the edge as far as emissions are concerned.
Anyone know?

Mine has sailed through at least 3 MOTs with that same cat setup as you. 2 MOTs on stock map and the current one on a Badger 5 map. Does a map really make any difference at idle, no throttle? I suspect not.

No i doubt it does. But it may do on fast idle.
Thats my worry.
I dont want a car that gives me sleepless nights every year that wont pass an emissions test.
Happy to fit new sport cats etc if its failed but if its tuned out of MOT limits just to make it go faster, id rather leave it where its at.

If im still about when the day comes that there are no other options but to drive an EV, thats what I'll be getting. Proper retro cool look. 70s Civic

Does anyone know the way to get the reclining nob off done the rest but this one is really clipped in.

Note that Badger 5 have diffferent options on the map you can have. I have 2 switchable maps. One map is “standard” and one is mapped to 282bhp. You have to bear in mind that my car was kicking out approx 245bhp on the stock map just due to exhaust/inlet mods. The “standard” map I had was just to keep things as they were.
They have other mapping options too. Clearly they know their stuff but personally I don’t think they market what they offer very well. I felt like I was in the dark until mapping day.
Anyway, back to the main topic. I’m convinced that if your car is running well then the map shouldn’t be an issue in terms of emissions.

How is your set up switchable?
Have you got an aftermarket ECU?
How do you switch between the 2?

Standard ECU. You can switch maps by holding down the accelerator pedal and tapping the brake pedal. A light on the dash (can’t remember which one) flashes to indicate which map is selected. In practice I’ve not really switched map, but could be useful in winter or if fault finding.
