Ok I understand now, in that case I'd grab the lot and sell your existing parts if the price is right. Its what I did on mine and offset a large portion of the outlay.

Drove the car yesterday for the first time since my attempt to take the intake manifold off and it seems to be driving better - maybe a little hesitation coming through when I'm on partial throttle, but I could give it some oomph and the engine didn't seem to give up. Maybe just cleaning the MAP sensor helped - it had a thin coating of oil on it, but who knows...?

Sadly the drive was to a Covid testing centre and my PCR came back positive, so I had to cancel my trip to the garage next week.

My car is literally parked on the street outside my house, so part of me wants to go outside and at least fit the shock absorbers while I'm self-isolating, but knowing my luck one of my neighbours will have something to say...

Ok opinions required.
Ive just ordered a pair of "Show plates" for my car and want them to be interchangeable with the standard plates. So looking at number plate holders.
But cant decide what to go for.
Browsing Ebay, ive seen 2 i like.
Car is stock looking, dont want the Halfords look (god forbid!).

Seat Sport or carbon look to go with the door pillars or just plain black. Its all in the detail.

Seat Sport for me. But will depend if you still have all the badging in the back as it maybe ‘too much’.

I actually like both of them, I mean you could but a sticker on the carbon if you like the seat sport bit or even the clubs sticker rep the site. I think carbon with the Seatcupra.net on it lol.

My rule is that you only put the badge on a car that is supposed to have that badge. We've all seen those stock BMWs with M Sport badges or 1.4 Fords with the ST badge.

If you've got the engine, it's your duty to have the badge - so go SEAT Sport.

Unless you want the sleeper look, in which case plain carbon.

Thanks all.
I was genuinely 50/50 with what will look best but need one or the other.

I'll get the sport ones and see how they look. Happy to debadge the bootlid if needs be.

As for beeing a sleeper, i think id have to reshell it with a base model for that to happen. It still receives a lot of attention from the local Audi S whatevers etc every time i take it out.
Not a lot i can do about that till the cambelt is done lol.

Going to look at the .net stickers at some point and maybe a T shirt too 😁

So I’ve got a metal on metal rattle from the passenger rear quarter when going over bumps I’ve had a pull of it all down there and think it may be the exhaust hitting the hanger. But, has anyone else had anything before or have any ideas?

I’m checking the beam and exhaust later

You could be right. Mount bracket snapped away from the exhaust and now rubbing over bumps?

It sounds like a few loose pieces hitting each other. I was under the car shaking everything the other day. I’ve re hung and even moved the exhaust hangers to try to lift it away from the beam but it’s still only 15mm or so away

1st off, stand behind the car and see if its leaning to 1 side.
Or jack it up and look at the ends if the spring.
Usually when a spring snaps it only looses 1/2 to 1 coil.

The ends of the springs are generally flat ended as thats how they are cut during manufacturing.
If a spring is snapped, you can generally tell as the end isn't clean cut.

While you're talking suspension, is it worth changing out the bump stops in my shock absorbers when I do them, and the fixing bolts too?

I suppose it's one of those things I should do 'while I'm in there' but the bump stops seem hard to come by so reputable brands etc. would be really helpful. I can get some eBay specials but don't want Fri make anything worse in the long run.

Car passed its MOT today. I can shake off the “sports cat emissions anxiety” for another 12 months. :)
Only about 2k miles done this year but a good lot of ££££ spent on maintenance and mods.

Mines still high!
Did it struggle to go through or did you not ask?
