Tyre Drone Noise

Hello

I have had a Formentor V2 150 for about 4 weeks now and its the first car I've had with big low profile tyres.

There is a drone noise coming from what I think is the tyres. Originally they had 4 Pirelli pzeros on and now the front 2 are Michelin Pilot Sport 4 and the noise is still there.

The noise is anything from quiet on super good roads to terrible on worst roads at speed.

I've noticed most Formentors have Bridgestone and wondered if others experienced the noise.

I'm on 245/40/r19 tyres.

Others are saying its fine but I cant get it out of my head when driving now.

That, unfortunately, is the price you pay - along with a firmer ride - when driving a car with low profile tyres. Plus UK roads are among the worst in Europe.

Most (if not all) tyre supply sites now list the “standard” noise rating of individual tyres. You can compare there.

Quietest tyres I've had on mine were Goodyear Efficientgrip. They are a brilliant all round tyre, much better than the Dunlop Sport Maxx I have on the front now which are quiet but very wheelspinny in the wet.

I often drive on concrete parts of M25 and any car sounds bad there, so every other road seems to be ok for me.
You beat me to that comment by minutes! I drove the Surrey section on Sunday and it was deafening.

I noticed the same on mine, I’ve got Goodyear Eagle F1 on mine....strangely though when the car was back getting the infotainment system replaced my courtesy car was the same model, same age but had Bridgestone Potenza tyres fitted. I wonder why there are so many variations of tyres...

Manufacturers will negotiate supplies from more than one tyre manufacturer. It reduces the risk of production seizures if a single supplier has a problem.

Can I ask what did you have on when you noticed, what version of eagle F1 you have now and how much better it is please?

Sorry for all the questions I'm getting closer to replacing them with eagle f1 or Dunlop Sport RT2 so would be very interested.

Your feedback would be really useful.
