My vernier calipers never leave my side. I'll get them on there tomorrow.

When you say collar, what do you mean? I didn't think bushes on the ARB had them?

I’ve seen loads of people talking about the arb bushes being on a plastic collar around the bar, so it’s not rubber on metal I assume. I personally didn’t seem then on mine, but people say they can meld onto the bar or something?

The stock front ARB does have a plastic collar between bar and the rubber bush and more often than not their brittle and crumbling away.
I always break the remnants away and fit new bushes at the exact bar diameter.

That's mad... I had no idea. I'll measure it and get a chisel on it tomorrow. If that does work, I should even be able to get the SuperPro ones on. Would be nice to have something to show for all this.

I have no idea why the nearside one didn't have anything on it.

I checked the longer bolts I bought today too to make sure they're the right pitch. I don't understand why they won't go in, because they should...

A couple of taps with a blunt chisel and I have a 23mm ARB again.

Car is back on all four wheels. Everything's tightened up, so hopefully I'll get back to Brighton with maybe only a few knocks on the way. Then it's taking the wishbone out and getting that snapped bolt out. The thread for the drop link isn't that deep, so I don't think I'll have any real problems getting it out. Maybe after a couple of days soaked in PlusGas it'll just wind out - I know the other side went in easy with the threads cleaned and some copper slip on the bolt, and if the worst comes to the worst, a new wishbone is £35...

Just wanted to say thanks to everyone for all their help and support. It's been a super stressful week with things not going the way they were supposed to. Glad to have the car at least driveable for the time being so I can get home, relax for a few days and then work on getting the bolt sorted before the MoT at the end of the month.

Only question now is whether to do the bushes while I've got the wishbone out...?

If you do one wishbone you gotta do the other one. Can you wait till March when it warms up again that’s what I’d be asking mate

That's the thing, isn't it? There's the voice in my head that says that if I've got it out anyway, I may as well do it, but it's also knowing I'd have to do the other side as well.

The bushes aren't going to fail the MoT as they are, so I think I'll wait a couple of months - at least when I don't have an MoT test getting closer by the week and I'm waiting for parts.

After 2 and a half days I finally finished the beam bushes haha. Jesus that was hard work, but just taking it for a test drive it and it feels already much better. Big thanks to everyone and @iammooks for extra detailed help.

The first bush was disgustingly difficult to do but the second one I used my press to push the old out after a few choice drill holes, copper slip that b!tch up and the new one went in like she was born for it. Glad that’s over.

Still got water in the drivers floor so I re cleaned the loom seal and whacked a generous bead of silicone round the butyl tape for good measure. Also sealed the new hole for the boost gauge

I did spend most of the drive well below the speed limit though, so that probably explained a lot.

Need to adjust my rear coilover to see if the issue of that side sagging still persists now the bushes are done

after all the hard work i'd really like it if that was the case. Some reason i have doubts...
