Decided to make a day of it, so fitted the new scuttle pins (for the cabin filter cover) that seemed to fit fine (paging @Sl1ced ), and also decided to take the side skirt off so I could have a go at bending back the pinch weld which has always been squashed flat because some people don't know about jack pads. Brushed it down with a wire brush afterwards and then sprayed it with some primer just to protect it as best as I can. It's been a pain in the backside because the bent weld always pushed out the side skirt to the point it popped off the guide. Hopefully this will fix it for good.

Now to put some cat litter down in the driver's footwell to absorb some of the moisture that's left from before I sealed my wiring loom cover.

I also measured the ARB so I could buy new bushes for it. I didn't take the wheel off, so access was a bit of a pain and there aren't that many flat spots to measure from, so I measured on the flattest section between the bush and the drop link and it's coming back as 23mm. I've had a look around as it's bigger than most people are mentioning they use for their LCs and LCRs but it sounds like the standard mk4 Golf used 23mm bushes and mine's the FR, so I'm guessing that's right. I won't buy the bushes for a couple of days just in case anyone with a TDI can confirm or deny...

I welded on my repair section to my new exhaust, (first time using a mig after a few practises) I can tig weld though . Looked like **** till I cleaned it up. Now just looks like a bad job. But it’s worked. My car still had the oem exhaust. No join between Center and rear pipes that’s how old it is haha! Cut the back box off. It was peeling like it had sunburn.

The standard Cupra & FR front ARB is 23mm.
Cupra R is thinner at 19mm but a different set up with drop links plus the car runs stiffer suspension anyway.

I put the 20mm Audi TT bar on my LCR as I had one knocking about that was in better condition than the stock one plus the extra 1mm believe it or not was physically noticeable so made sense to utilise.
Coupled with the Superpro bushes it certainly does it's job.

That's good enough for me. A couple of threads I came across suggested that the Cupras had smaller diameter ARBs because of some kind of passive suspension setup or something... I guess given the fact my car's a hefty boi, it needs a hefty bar to go with it.

I found some of the SuperPro bushes on eBay from someone who'd bought the wrong size and had clearly been trying to shift them there since June. Just put in an offer and got them for £11 posted.

My wipers etc had stopped again so removed the scuttle panel for a looksee.
Sould have grown carrots in there!
Cleaned it all out and re-sealed the cabin filter housing and the plastic panel the other side that the loom runs through. Then addressed the relays again. Fingers crossed now. Whilst i was in there i dropped the spindles out of the wiper mechanism and oiled them. Had one seize on my old car so thought id do a little preventative work.

I had the same when I did mine. It's one of the worst designs ever, but then, I suppose it doesn't rain in Spain - or else it just falls mainly on the plain...

It really is nuts just how much crap gets in there - I was literally scraping soil out of there, and the more you look, the more you find. Lifting the windscreen seals I found loads under there too, and it probably runs the whole length of the car along the roof-rack grooves as well. So much water and crap gets into the scuttle below the wiper bolts - it's just really poor design.

Found all kinds of things in the sideskirts too when I took them off today. Should have just tipped it all out into the compost bin.

Hope it solves your problem - I've got cat litter in my footwells in the hope it gets rid of the moisture in the carpet.

I’m thinking about getting the scuttle and wiper mech out. Then power washing it all out. I’ll get water in the car but I can re seal better when it’s clean?

I wouldn't recommend doing that.
When you lift out the driver side panel its a whole world of electrics under there.
Passenger side is heater box and motor.

I just grabbed out the heavy stuff and used paper towel and brake cleaner. Worked a treat.

Weather the reseal worked? I'll let you know.

I was about to say the same, there's no way I'd deliberately force water into that area as you're simply asking for problems if you do.

I scraped a load of crap out and attempted to re seal but I don’t know if it worked. The channel is so small I’ve ripped my hands up
