At the moment, repraying is more expensive than just getting something off a breaker.

Mole grips kept sliding round. Took a 10mm socket, hammered it on and it came off easy.
Hopefully the offside is as accommodating.

Just in case anyone's lurking and can help - the set of bleed nipples that arrived today were two different lengths. All the ones I've taken out so far have been shorter - both the ones on the front and the one on the nearside rear, but when I was screwing in the nearside rear one, I felt like I wasn't getting any resistance when the thread was all the way in. I've left it about fifteen minutes and it's not leaking, but there's less pressure in the system at the moment. If I need to put the longer ones somewhere, it'd be really useful if someone could let me know - it seems a bit weird that I'd get two nipples that didn't go anywhere, even though they're supposed to be for the front and rear.

Finally replaced the original caliper carrier bolts today after upgrading the front brakes a couple of weeks ago. Don't reckon it's necessary but VW say it is so hey ho ?. If anyone has 312mm discs and wants to replace theirs, DON'T buy the seat ones, all the car websites I looked at sold the wrong length, you need VW part number N91084901 which are M15 x 55mm, not M15 x35mm:
Finally got some brake feel back after bleeding the master cylinder. Who the hell had the bright idea to put the bleed nipples there? Is there an easier way of getting to them?
Sitting in the car with the engine running and my foot on the brake, if I push hard it will depress gradually. I can't find any obvious leaks, so I'm guessing it's just some air left in the system?

have you tried using an Eezibleed tool they are only cheap and they force air bubbles through the whole system once you open the bleed valves, they are £19.99 on halfrauds, this may help get the last bit out if u struggling still,

Didn’t manage to today but tomorrow will be putting the car on stands again go drop the front struts, disassemble and reassemble with a torque wrench. Since fitting them I’ve had rumble style knocking over bumpy terrain, but nothing on smooth dips. Already changed the arb, bushes and drop links so it’s not that.
Does anyone happen to have the powerflex top mounts that drop -10mm? I have them but want to see how others look from the top I’m not sure mine sit right...

It's what I'm using, but it has been a little less straightforward than I thought. The connector to the spare tyre leaks so I'm not getting the full pressure in the system, while I've also found the cap isn't a completely tight fit and so the reservoir overflows if I've got the bleed nipples closed but the tyre still hooked up.
I'm going to do a last bleed tomorrow and keep an eye on the reservoir and the Eezibleed bottle to make sure it doesn't run dry. I'm not going to let it beat me.

Don't get me started! The SEAT workshop manual says rear right, rear left, front right then front left, but looking at the master cylinder, I'd have thought it would be rear left, rear right, front left then front right, given it's in front of the steering wheel.
Other guides say you actually have to start at the front, and so I'm completely stumped. Everyone says they're right and the braking is better.
I'm ashamed to say though that I haven't had the brakes done the whole time I've owned that car, so that's 12 years. I think I deserve what I'm getting.

Do you have a scanner that can do a abs pump bleed I did it on mine as I had no easy bleed and I was on my own with just a bleed bottle I started with the rear right then rear left then front left then front right then left it for a bit tried the pedal to see if any air in system there was so did the front master cylinder bleed nipple then the back one then I used the snap on scanner to do a and pump bleed and all was fine the pedal was spot on

Starting to think that's what I might need. It's confusing because there's so much conflicting information out there, but what made the biggest difference so far was bleeding the master cylinder. The front bleed nipple was really effective - got a lot of air out of that one, but access to the back one is really, really difficult. I might try getting some longer clear hose so I can get as much air out of them both as I can - the Eezibleed supplied hose just isn't long enough to get on the master cylinder without brake fluid pouring out of the bottle, since you have to put it on its side.
Was the car driveable/safe before you did the ABS pump? I'm at my parents in Dorset right now (big driveway) but I live in Brighton, so would probably try and get it done there next week if I have to go to a specialist.

It was but not advise able for a long journey as my pedal has to much travel
Eazibleed are good but you can’t beat a two person bleed one on the pedal and one opening the bleed nipples and a Final pump up and hold and open the bleed nipple to see if any air comes out

Touched up the Brembos.
Has an oil leak and the turbo is about to pop, but at least the brakes look nice.
The pedal pumping method is not advisable on these due to the probable chance of rolling and damaging the master cylinder seals

Clear bottle 1/4 full of brake fluid. Have some hose attached to the bleed nipple with the other end in the brake fluid.
Crack the nipple off and wait for the bubbles to stop.
Coffee in hand, whilst watching.
