No relationship I am sure, the guy at East Yorkshire Retrofit Solutions is Kieran Walkington.

Oh yes different name, Blaze is the one I'm thinking of. It's one half of the Polish operation that operates out of Doncaster, the other half operates out of Poland on remote screens once they moved out of Croydon. Yorkshire must now be a hot bed of retrofitters :).

All I know is the East York’s retrofit guy is top notch. Great bloke and very professional.
Got my eye on ACC and HBA at some point in the future from him

Having the seat sound system retrofitted by him using I assume vag can pro soon. He's done a lot of work for others so looking good.

Just been talking to him too this evening. Seems a very nice guy, helpful and happy to answer questions.

Only negative of these retrofits is if Seat plug into the car and do a SVM update it'll notice that the configuration mismatches with the factory held data and reset any retrofits. Just something to make sure Seat don't do if you use the dealership in future :)

Aren't you just the picture of joy and happiness! ? Just kidding you, good point though. OK so you've got me on this one, what is an svm update? And by reseting retrofits do you mean if I have configurations unlocked that weren't original? As they won't upgrade the firmware of the infotainment system to a newer version it seems a bit harsh that they might bother downgrading it back to factory. I'd be interested to hear what people's experience of this is, would seat care? I have a service plan so it's got 3 years off dealership visits.

The dealership does not know how to downgrade firmware:)

Just thought I'd mention it. It's nothing to worry about and extremely unlikely to happen. It's a software version management update. It's if something went wrong and they reset everything back to factory settings for your car. The file stored online wouldn't have the retrofits as part of it. But anyway still enjoy them it's really cool you can add stuff. He's a great person and I wish I knew more to research into how it's done and play around with a unit outside of a car :)

SVM = software version management. A trumpet can be set in the unit to say it's been messed with. You can reset the flag via a convoluted process that sometimes works. Works on the high, had less success on the standard.

Generally thought that dealers aren't bothered with SVM errors but obviously if there is a firmware update that is rolled out it will wipe out any specific firmware that you have. My experience when I first messed up the high units maps in my backend experiments is the dealer mechanics don't have a clue on the software front. They told me they phone a central number and are told what to do on ODIS. Front desk said re-install the map with the SD card (which I didn't have). That bit was right.... don't think they had the card either. Was told I had the most up-to-date maps by Seat Customer Services - wrong. Booked in for an appointment but sorted it out myself... learning curve.

I think it's really the FeCs that are the issue. If a retrofitter changes these to give additional functionality and they get reset back to what the car was shipped with then issues. Some retrofitters go into ODIS. Not sure whether that changes the blue print record or not, if it does, that's good. Some retrofitters don't have ODIS which can limit what they can do. One told me that, so they couldn't do what I wanted. All those infotainment units sold on as retrofits will have had their FeCs changed for sure or a large proportion of them. I think the bottom line is dealers wont make work for themselves in something they dont understand. Not a good dealer at least.

Thanks for clearing it up. It's useful to read this. I'm still learning about all of these retrofits but it's extremely interesting, especially to read what Dealers use etc

I've been talking to Kieran about upgrading my H24 SW 0245 to SW 0475, and getting the Sports dials added as well.

I've been talking to Kieran about upgrading my H24 SW 0245 to SW 0475, and getting the Sports dials added as well.

My head unit shows the sports dials, shows turbo psi, gforce and kw output. It also gives you a lap timer. I can do sainsburys car park in 1 minute 20... The gforce and turbo dials don't show much excitement though at 5mph.

I have now updated my firmware with Kieran help, not much has changed as I had all the layout anyway. I'm hoping for a little more stability. Some things appear to have improved with android auto interaction as selecting playlists in amazon music actually works now. I had wanted to see what @RCupra had spotted different about this fw version.
What is the latest firmware for pfl MIB2 High?

Where can it be obtained from?

Thanks
You will need to offer up a few more details from your unit. Do you know the hw number, device Id and the current fw version?

As for where to get it, the fabled Spanish forum is the place to look if your wanting to do it without costs or there are various people who for a very reasonable fee will send you a zipped up set of files you just need to put on to an sdcard.

Or RCupra will know! If you read the last few posts I've just updated my firmware on my 2017 ateca. I recommend using a high speed sdcard (class 10) to save you sitting in the car for hours and have the engine running. Mine only took about 10 minutes but they say it can be up to an hour or more.

I spoke to East Yorks retrofit, I tracked them down on Facebook and messaged him. Answered all my questions and concerns and have me all the instructions I needed to upgrade myself with an upgrade file from him. I probably do have to say other retrofits are available and this is a personal recommendation having used their services.
