Bit of an update - I keep in contact with the lad that bought this off me occasionally and last I heard, he was learning that it torque steers! But seems to be chasing and beating chavs in Scoobs - so looks like the dirty old girl is still running as good as always :D

10 years later.. Does this look familiar?

haha, just picked this up as an mot failure off of a friend who has had this for the last 2 years and destroyed it pretty much, My other friend had owned it before that for the last 8 years and taken care of it but now its looking a little bit worse for wear, Got this car unbelievably cheap as it was destined to be scrapped but after being passenger in this car before I couldn't let it be scrapped thing is still ridiculously fast at 140k miles now and is just in need of a bit of tlc which I should be able to take care of.

What a hero you are mate.

I loved this car and spent so much time and money on it. I really did enjoy this and it's taken me all over the country with many happy memories. Thank you for keeping it alive! It really deserves to be looked after. I must have spent 5 figure sums on this car easily.

Thank you for keeping it alive!

Yeah man she is still going strong, exactly the same setup as 10 years ago my mate reckons has never let him down, As I am 22 this is my first car over 100 bhp aha, So yeah it's a nice little project for me at the moment and hope to have it mot'd and on the road within the next month, I honestly love the car and the mpg :) Yeah its a lot of work to end up in the scrapyard! I will post some pics up here when I have had some time to work on it.

No problems!

It's far too good to be scrapped.

I know itll be hard work but have a look through this thread. I appreciate its 148 pages long now, but it shows everything I did and how no expense was spared.

When it left me it was 240bhp and 380ft/lb torque. It showed up some serious quick cars on the road.

Look forward to seeing updates on this. Think I still have a HUGE folder of invoices for this car too.

Yeah I was having a browse last night and seeing how mint you kept it.

Yeah it's still rapid no doubt about that, My friend that I bought it from said he rinsed so many cars on the motorway including a modded Audi S1 and the kiddy couldn't believe it and had to ask him what he had under the bonnet haha. Diesel powerrrrrrr

Yeah man I will defiantly put up some updates when I get the time to do some work should have it sweet again soon!

little update, absolute nightmare trying to do anything on the driveway in the lovely UK weather, but had some time do a few little bits.

When I was doing the rear discs and pads one of the rear calipers was seized so had to have it off and rebuilt it, but then of course my most hated job.. Bleeding brakes haha, Hate with pumping brakes so picked up an eezibleed kit (best £20 I have ever spent) and some fresh dot 4, lovelyyy.

Old interior was roached neither seat folded forward and both bases rattled flat out no to mention the state of em! Picked up a nice interior dirt cheap, Had a little test fit today but need to find the source of the damp problem in the car before I put em in for good.

Got some coilovers on their way as the current ones have a snapped spring on the front, and then the next few jobs are going to be a good steam clean and front discs and pads as the current ones have been abused!

Old suspension was roached, One was snapped somehow haha, Some cheap 2nd hand fronts off facebook to get it through mot and my mate still had some brand new rears sitting in the garage.

I'd love to have a car like that to have a tinker with, haven't got the time to devote to something like this. Maybe once I've finished everything I want to on my daily car I might consider getting something. Got my eyes on a new motorbike now though.

Yeah man it's so mint having something to mess about with all the time, I just like messing about with something cheap because if it goes wrong its not the end of the world. Just sold my motorbike to fund this haha, Drove it once and came home and sold the bike.

New front suspension, new ball joints, new drop links, Mtec Disc's and Brembo pad's. Couldn't bring myself to install the new parts with the calipers in that state so gave em a little paint job while I was there, Still needs touching up in places but looks better for now, And I know it isn't high temp paint but it's what I had in the garage. Car just need's some welding now for mot and the leak sorted so I can re fit the interior. Little before n after!
