Update: Did a quick test using LC and got 0-100 4.31s, not too bad for a first try, poor conditions (winter tyres and damp road). This was using JB4 custom map 6.

I’m just about to buy one and I’m seriously thinking about it now. If say Ford advertised the RS Focus as 350bhp and it made 300 they would have a riot on their hands.

Not read the entire thread yet, so not sure if anyone replied.
Not many Mk3 Focus RS achieve 345BHP. Most are around 320-330BHP with a lot of scratching of heads regarding how the 4WD works on the dyno and whether placing the car into Dyno mode (via special button press sequence) makes a difference.
I sold mine, not because of power (although it never felt like 345BHP when running OEM) but the host of quality/reliability issues they have and a warranty that was near the end !!

To be fair I’d say the ABT box is performing where it should be based on my dragy results compared to others.
Results on dragy I’ve seen so far for the 2019 ST GPF.

My ABT (345hp ?) 0-60 4.18 & 12.41 1/4mile.

JB4 (375 dyno’d) 0-60 3.96 secs no 1/4 mile data.

APR stage 1 plus DSG map (375hp dyno’d) 0-60 3.67 & 12.06 1/4 mile.

Of course oil needs to be at 90’c for full power and other temps not too high to maintain it !! I think this is the key, summertime it will heat soak quickly and power ramp down as @Jenko found out on the track.

I’ve not had chance to do any more dragys yet and I’ve now got a full tank of fuel so will wait a week or so for that to get closer to the 1/4 mark before trying again to get a better launch.

I was having a look at my (ABT) 1/4 mile time and compared it to @Jenko (APR stage 1 plus DSG tune) times that are on dragy.
The only difference is on the launch, his launched quicker than mine as you can see on the g meter and his 0-60 time, It’s an instant launch
My launch was much slower, but once moving the speeds at 1/8, 1000ft and 1/4 mile are almost identical.. in fact my terminal speed at the end was slightly faster !

Wonder if the ABT box being a piggy back has some milliseconds delay that are visible when you launch whilst the box works out how much power it can give you based on the temps ??

Just a little update here on my R ST ABT.
I decided against a dyno run this week and put the money towards a dragy.

Did my first ever launch (nearly messed it up, I released at about 2.5k rpm) and was pleasantly surprised with the results.

0-60 4.18sec
1/4 Mile 12.42secs

Definite room for improvement, it’s wet and I’ve got 3rd tank of fuel.

Considering Matt Watson at Carwow got 4.4 and 13.1 in his review I’d say he didn’t have the oil temp up to 90’c for full power !!!
Going to be controversial here. Matt uses proper timing equipment, not a Draggy ;)

4.4 vs 4.18.

Don’t know what he uses for 1/4 mile, but dragy is usually more accurate the longer the run so my 1/4 time of 12.4 is significantly faster than his 13.1 even accounting for any margin of errors ;)

Having just done a quick google, it would appear that the Draggy isn't half bad. But what tyres, what road. All makes a difference. He recently did a test of an S3 saloon vs a CLA35 and was getting quicker times than quoted stock figures by some margin.

You are exactly right. Many variables. All a factor.
Tyres are the same but the rest, yeah who knows.

Cant wait to get chance to try again when it’s not blowing a gale and peeing down with rain :)

Draggy (or Dragy) is very accurate, 1/100th of a second according to manufacturer. So that's not the issue, many other factors as you say.

I've tested dragy a little more now and my one and only LC was 4.09 s 0-60 mph in quite poor conditions. No doubt can go below 4.

JB4 map 6 around 360 hp, not dynoed.

What boost do you see on the gauge on ABT cars?
Sorry mate missed this post.

I don’t look at the gauges so I don’t know. I will have my eye on them next time I’m booting it and let you know.

If the boost gauge is anything like the power gauge it’s just a toy gauge and for show only, doesn’t actually measure anything its just set to show certain value as rpm increases.

If you just unplug the ABT unit will you get a fault code?
You can’t just unplug it, the whole harness would need disconnecting.

There is a bypass plug you can get from Richter motorsport if you want to drive stock only. You just disconnect the ABT Control Unit and connect the bypass to the harness.

It shows the actual value, just have to remove 1bar for atmosphere
Tried to have at look at his tonight but didn’t get a good focus on the value, was focused on keeping the car going straight as blowing a gail, sorry mate.

Re the launch control, this time launched from 4K rpm and it did indeed shave a 10th of a second off my time.
Did 2 runs and got the same reading twice of 4.09secs. Guess that’s me done then, doubt I’ll beat that unless get very favourable wind or something. Again had a very strong crossword that was blowing the car around on the 1/4 mile run.

Anyway I think I can conclude that the ABT tune does indeed work when temperature parameters are met.

Well I never did get a reply back from Richter or ABT (and Seat didn’t know) with all the temp parameters, but basically Oil and Coolant need to be 90’c or above for full power. Any less and you get less power.

More importantly is the temps at which power starts to throttle down... this applies to Oil, Coolant, Intake and probably more. This is the info nobody knows and Richter and ABT have both ignored my specific requests for this.
