My intention is not to interfere in Paddys tread, but I have a Cupra R 2018 therefor I know the offset. It’s ET40 mm as you write and part number is 5F0 071 499 E (checked it on the summer wheels) :).

Just want to say I enjoyed reading an excellent article about what I'm guessing is your R in the latest edition of VWG :)

Happened to read it while waiting for the bench seat to get repaired at Riverside Auto Liverpool.

One thing it drew my attention to was that you are running Goodyear Super Sports now, how do they compare to the Michelin's?

I personally think they are every bit as good as the PS4S’s - maybe even better. They grip just as well in the dry, even better in the wet (over the PS4S’s). I will be getting them again when it’s time to replace, unless the PS4S’s are cheaper at the time.

So I've been a bit quiet on this thread and not managed to update it fully recently. I've updated the first post with all the recent changes to mods and parts.

So I had a custom footrest and passenger light made up - RacingLine have approved the use of their logo on the footrest which was great of them :)

The car then had a bit of time with the guys at Progressive Parts / VAG Manchester whilst the car was upgraded to Stage 3 :D Power figures are yet to be determined, but a trip to RacingLine is on the cards to finish the build off. Looking forward to it :)

All that was needed to go to Stage 3 was the RacingLine hybrid turbo as everything else was in place, hardware wise anyway.

Whilst we are in lockdown, I’ve done a few things to the car. First was to swap out the R600 filter on the car with the spare one I had from when I had my 290. I gave the filter coming off the car a wash and reapplied the oil so it’s ready to swap in a few months.

I decided to give fitting the charge pipe kit a go...after all, how hard can it be?! Turns out, quite hard. There’s a reason mechanics are paid a fair bit for their time as they know exactly what parts need removing etc. I have shredded my hands but I got there in the end and I’m really happy with the results. I definitely don’t want to do that job again without a ramp and a second pair of hands!

I’ve had the GFB DVX ready to go on for a few months so decided to fit it whilst I’ve got some time. It’s a pretty snug fit as it does say it’s not compatible with upgraded intakes, but this seems to fit. Only time will tell whether there’s mechanical reasons as to why it’s not compatible with upgraded intakes, but I know plenty of people running them with no issues with upgraded intakes.

Gave the engine bay a bit of a wipe down so that it doesn’t look dust splattered anymore (the joys of living on a building site!).

Decided to to remove the clutch assist spring too. The delay valve was removed when the clutch was upgraded so this was just to finish off the little tweaks to the feel of the pedal.

There’s a Remus cat back to go on once this lockdown is all over and I’ve found the dreaded water pump coolant leak so that needs rectifying ASAP.

A few more tweaks and mods have been done over the last week:

Added 20 colours to the interior ambient lighting. I’m aware I can add up to 30 but I’ve ran out of colours haha

Do you happen to have the part numbers for the glove box air con mod Paddy? I've read several guides but there are several suggestions for part numbers for the tube.

These are what I ordered:

Hose: 5G1816311A
Valve: 5E08163559B9
Sunglasses Holder: 6R0857465A82V

Glove box needs to come out for the air con mod. Simple enough to do. A bit of patience and logic required to route the hose.

Sunglasses holder just clicks into place.

  • DO88 Enlarged Muffler Delete
  • Fluidamp Crank Pulley + new belt
  • 4" Intake Hose and larger R600 filter
  • Wireless Apple CarPlay
  • Wireless Charging
The DO88 Charge Pipes will replace my Leyo ones, or at the very least, i'll create a mix and match solution out of the two kits.

Do you honestly consider it money well spent after some time with it? I cant jusitify the outlay but then again i am a tight a**
I do consider it money well spent. It's around £100 for someone to fit, so if you were able to source all the parts yourself, you could save a fortune. Some virtual cockpits for for less than £300 on eBay, and then the trim surround is around £40 brand new from SEAT. If you shop around, you could get the whole thing (parts and fitting) for less than £500.

Although £500 is still a lot of money, it's cheap for a VC conversion.
