Has anyone used the Petrol Stations (UK) POI DB from PocketGPSWorld? I assume you would set up the same Speed Cameras.

If anyone does/has used it... does it show all the logos? As the built in DB only shows some logos and I'd like to see them all. Sad I know

EDIT: It looks like it's only available in OV2 format. Would that be an issue with POInpect0r?

Given you can only show upto ten user icons on the screen at a time you would soon run out. Dependent on unit the built in system has different fuel icons BUT they might not be supported in the standard. I'd have to get up and go out into the cold :). The high has on it show by brand and you toggle on and off. It's lurking down on which icons to show.

The built in icons are different on the standard using Tom Tom data to the high unit based on Here Maps data. I know a local car park is in one and not the other. I did get a non existent car park removed from Here Maps and it went on an update in the car months at a later release. On the standard I'm not sure whether their only source of icons is the Tom Tom cartography or whether the company they use to put the map files together uses a different set of POIs to the Tom Tom ones. I have corrected the Tom Tom petrol ones... :). That's when I'm the codriver wearing the Navigator hat and see that something on the map is wrong... get home and put a correction in :).

I have published the links for budding people to improve the maps via crowd sourcing. Best to take a photo of the feature or / and screen capture the local authorities OS survey map that you can find on most LA websites as your evidence for submission.

To do these submission you register for a TomTom / Here Maps account then:

Tom Tom:

https://www.tomtom.com/mapshare/tools/

Here Maps:

https://mapcreator.here.com/

Lastly for Google Maps / Waze:

https://support.google.com/maps/answer/3094088?co=GENIE.Platform=Desktop&hl=en

I'm still still waiting for TomTom to accept some road speed changes I gave them with a photo of the signpost. Missing roads they have accepted from me. You get a list of where it is in moderation. Here Maps your change will vanish if it fails moderation after a period and doesnt get passed into the authorised database. This where you would update and ammend the built in Pois and for that matter anything wrong on the maps.

BTW ov2 is listed as a Poinspector file - you should be fine or then this ->. The general purpose GPS utility GPSBabel is the one you hit for convertions when you get stuck on GPS files... running things though it to clean up or convert.

Thanks @Tell.
I thought it might just be the one category like cameras_gatso for example, under Personal POIs and then you selected this rather than the built in one. If that makes sense

I'm sure I coudl set my normal unit to filter by brand, but that might be when its suggesting petrol stations rather than displaying on the map iteself.

Although having a more accurate list of Shell garages with Shell Icons would be good :)

PocketGPSWorld has a Shell garage POI list in ov2 format

The brand business is where they break out the built in POIs by brand. It's how I've see Mercure hotels on the map. Probably with specific retail ones if you get them direct off their website they would be more up-to-date than the built in car ones. That's the issue down the road. Stations change hands and the POI suppliers for the mapping system don't update their built in files whilst the company themselves like Shell would if you realy want that brand.

Thanks.
I have that selected. It's just that the installed logo list for petrol stations is very limited. Not even seen some of them in the UK.

EDIT: Unless I've missed something. I'll double check later

OK. I've double checked what I have set....
The list of fuel logos is under Fuel Options where you select your prefered brand. The list is quite short and seems to include German brands. Possibly because map came from VW site, maybe.

I have the Gas Stations POI selected. I just assumed that this category would have each relevant logo assigned to each POI.

Do you think it's worth trying the PocketGPSWorld POIs and would it do want I'd like?

Reckon these are probably the most accurate

https://www.fuelmate.co.uk/useful-tools/sat-nav-downloads/

select fuel provider and Tom Tom for the ov2.

I couldn't find anything on the Shell site. You'd think the card site would be more up to date than GPS World. You would only do this if you were fussy about fuel you use. I use the Petrol Prices app and do it on price :). Dont really use the icon for that. Luddite using the Android app Map Coordinates Pro to give degrees, minutes and seconds.

I checked in the car's menu of the standard and plus. Just breaks out the icons to show via the same toggle. Have mine set to show brand. Other standalone satnavs offer that filter I reckon to brand. Perhaps you found a menu I haven't:). The menus are a labyrinth.... I'll have a look for that filter that you mentioned above.

Apologies if this has been covered already, but discovered quite by accident a great way of getting the camera announcements.

So been fiddling around with Waze on Apple CarPlay while the wife was going back for something in the house.

Anyway left the app open before going and setting the car sat nav up (where I have speed cameras anyway). As I was driving along using the car sat nav in full, music from CarPlay - Spotify, I was still getting speed camera warnings from waze. And unlike the beeps I’ve turned off for POI, it only did for the ones I was on the road for. (Sat nav would beep soon as I got near one as a POI even if it was not on the road I’m on).

That's how the inbuilt car system works it beeps when close to a camera even thou it may not be on the route. Obviously you have the choice of what POI camera database you use with Poinspector rather than Waze / Google ones. Horses for courses.

Makes no odds to me, as I have both, but thought it maybe handy for those that can not update.

Sorry for my English.
I noticed that the ATECA_11_19 instruction manual no longer contains information about importing personal POIs.
In the previous ATECA_07_19 instruction it was on page 236
This probably means that Seat spayed it from its cars.

Maybe there is another way for POI - editing the file in maps on the SD card?

greetings

See post 69. If the device part number finishes with ether 877 or 877A it won't import user POIs - see example below. This is the standard unit with wifi. The base standard unit without Wi-Fi or the Plus are fine. It's only the MY19 and MY20 units effected which are the new top of the range standard units with wifi.

There are no other ways to get user POIs into the unit. The POIs sit in a bit of memory within the unit. It's the protocol to import into this memory that has been left out. Basically a programming bug I would say with release 0514 of the firmware on the specific device as described finishing in 877 or 877A. Assuming it's a programming error introduced by poor QA it will only be fixed via a future update. Seat have just taken it out of the manual to reflect current reality on these unit although worth doing the device part number to check since specs can change.

Sorry my englisch
I know the topic 877 / 877A ...

I just thought that Seat POI was removed from its cars when I saw the new manual and compared it with the previous one.
But if, as you write, Seat intentionally delete in this manual to reflect the current reality on this device is ok.

Is there any confirmation that they will fix it in newer units?
I also wrote to them and I have been waiting for a reply for a month - apparently it went to Spain

p.s.
The latest cars still have 877 / 877A?
There is no newer version yet?
Probably from 2020 the number will change

greetings
