Not today, but over the past week I drove to the Netherlands and back, so it was a good chance to give the car a good run and make sure everything is OK. Lots of things I thought were wrong with the suspension just turned out to be the British roads. That said, I was getting some 'wallowing' at times, and I also felt like the suspension was bottoming out a few times too, so will be looking at new shocks sometime, I'm guessing?
There's been some noise from the nearside wheel and I think that the bearings are on their way out. Are they replaced in pairs?
For some reason as well, the offside headlight is absolutely full of condensation. The nearside one was replaced after a crash years ago, so I'm presuming it's showing its age a bit, and as it needs restoration it's a good opportunity to remove it and get it looking good again. Any tips?
All in all though, I'm pleasantly surprised. It's difficult when you're starting to do a lot of your own work, but can't diagnose absolutely everything, because every knock and whistle could be so many different things, but the car hit 160k miles on the way back, and there's nothing about it where I'm thinking that the car is on its way out, and I was averaging at least 55mpg on both journeys, so thumbs up on that one!
