Mate, I honestly can't wait.. The whole thing has stressed me out. Can't wait to get it back! Although in hindsight it was probably a bit of overkill just to get a new front wheel after I kerbed it a few weeks before

And would you look at the state of the hire car..

Had the estimate from the repair garage for my Cupra today...

£17k

And that's assuming that there's no damage to the DSG box..

Admiral have authorised the repair. At least now (judging by the repair cost) I'll have a virtually brand new car again

Did you get to the bottom of why the Car spun in a spectacular way?

Really sorry to hear about what happened. Main thing as people have said is that you walked away unharmed. That’s the main thing!

Discovered a small problem.

So the low coolant alert popped up on the dash, went to check and found this.

Low oil light came on after.
Seat MK couldn’t take a look for 2 weeks and if I wanted a courtesy car we were talking December 13th.
Specialist said they would take a look for me today.

Turns out the oil cooler has been damaged when the recent water pump and thermostat housing was replaced recently. The oil is then forcing its way into the coolant system. It’s a right mess, Shocking thing is that replacement was done by Seat MK. Looks like we need to have a conversation about resolving it . The specialist has photos and is doing a report and a quote.
Not a happy bunny!

To be honest, I'm just glad that I've finally got some form of replacement car.

And everyone knows, the best handling car is a hire car right? :roflmao:

17k! What do they put in that paint?

Did you see a job list? From the pictures it didn't look like it would be that much.

I haven't seen any reports yet - I was told about the repair estimate when I spoke to the repair garage yesterday. They were reluctant to start the repairs in case they got it to a roadworthy state and then discovered that there was a problem with the DSG box. I spoke to Admiral who have now reassured the garage that there is some money set aside in case anything further needs to be done (such as the gearbox). I'm actually really surprised that they have authorised the repairs at all, given the cost..

It's the dodgem-style bumpers that they're fitting all round the car which is costing the money...

Wow... surely it would have been easier for Admiral to set some money aside to buy you a new Cupra!? Have they give you an estimate of how long it's going to take?

Update....

Admiral have called me again this morning to say that the car has now been written off :( :( :(

I now have the joy of dealing with settlement figures and looking for a replacement (cheaper!) car for the next couple of years...

That's crap... but when you said they were doing 17k of repairs, my thought was would the repairer really get that much of the car repaired and right first time? Or would it be put back together and it'd end up with loads of niggles and you'd hate it.

My guess is that Admiral wouldn't authorise the potential repairs to the DSG box and the repair garage (understandably) didn't want to go putting the car back together, and then discovering that the transmission was knackered.

Probs cos its over half the cost of the car. Or its due to the rear panel damage. How frustrating.....

The repair quote was £17k and that didn't take into account any potential damage to the transmission. To be fair to Admiral (and as I said in one of my previous posts) I'm surprised that they even authorised the repairs based on the £17k quote!!
