I
UPDATE: Fitted the struts this morning. Works great. Here are a few pics of the install.

First I made a support out of some pipe.. Misses still in bed.

Then all you need is a small screwdriver.

Use this to carefully pry off the spring clip...But not all the way off. Just enough so the clip releases from the nipple.....

Then simple pull away the strut.

Do the same on the bottom.

Then I cleaned up the nipples and applied silicone grease to the inside of the new struts...

Fitting is reverse...

Slightly pop off the spring clip on the new strut and push it over the nipple. Push the spring clip home and that's all she wrote....

On these like Kazand said earlier, they are fitted upside down because the angle fitting is on the opposite end.

I think these are gonna work wonders for my moobs too...
10/10 for multiple use of the word 'nipple' ....:p

Ordered mine, £26.87 for the pair delivered to the door from Germany in 4 days including weekend by DPD.Fitted both in 10 mins. Amazing to see just ...press and pop goes the trunk. You really notice the resistance when closing though. Worth it, just need to get a few OBD 11 treats by someone local and uncle bingo we are rocking.

Help

So i've just bought:
2 x 0793PL 017468//lift O mat 10 GAS SPRING
&
2 x STABILUS Gas Spring, boot // LIFT-O-MAT® 440mm

I previously bought:
2 x Gas Spring, boot 515N STABILUS

However they did not fit. I bought two and they only fit the left hand side. The right hand side would not fit.

Can someone please help me? I have no idea how the hell i'm meant to fit a strut that is meant to be universal, but only fits the left hand side. :censored:

To be honest the only thing I can think is. The end rotates as mine to look at looked like they fitted the same side. You just twist the top and rotate 180 degrees to fit. Didn't think they come left and right handed ? Also I only ordered the gas struts and that is more than enough to lift the boot , hope my input helps

Mine was the same. Both set up for the right hand side. But like mentioned earlier, you just rotate the end. It is a little stiff/hard. But does rotate...

Yeah, between us(wastedagen)we got the terminology right, yes it's stiff but grip the plastic knuckle at the end and rotate into position...and don't forget some grease for the hole...used it just now, amazing mod when seen again. Seat should take note.

Had a look at the ratings on my ST and they're 540nm so the 515nm ones used for auto opening the 280's boot would be no good. Going to have to do some research into available ratings before trying this mod.

If you can't find any try SGS Engineering in Derby, they make all sorts of gas struts in varying sizes

I bought these ones which should work, but they dont lift the boot

According to the write up they are the same as the Stabilus 017468 I have that work fine. Check the force , it should be written on the side in NM , they should be at least 515 to lift the tailgate from key pop. If it is 515 or more, then either your boot lid is made of lead or the struts have leaked. Less than 515, they are the wrong struts.

Just had a look and actually says 500nm, you would think 15nm wouldnt make a difference but maybe this is why it doesnt work..! Advert says 515nm so i have contacted the seller.
Fitted mine yesterday, pressed the key fob, didn't work, then held the key fob pressed and it worked.
Yeah i knew that you had to hold it for it to pop so not that, i also tried them both ways up which also made no difference!

Thanks :) I'll check them out once i receive the struts again. Might actually upload a video to my YouTube incase people come across the same issue. Took me ages to find out that the strut head rotates. I thought there was two seperate struts.

These are the exact ones you want, fit great, raise the boot perfectly will fit 3 or 5 door

Has this worked for anyone, and will it open holding the open button with key( the same way all the windows come done)? Or just using the normal boot release, and the stronger struts lift the boot lid automatically?

Thank you,

Kenny
