There is not a workaround for mib1 one sd based without Mapcare factory fitted or if you know of it the source files I reckon are these

http://www.navigation.com/is-bin/IN...rame_campaign_light&Page=VW_Europe_Media_MIB1

Which are the mib1 media ones. Certainly that's how the mib2 ones work. VW Discovery Media = Seat Standard, VW Discover Pro = Seat Plus

If it's a retrofit unit then they don't come with Mapcare.

But to re-iterate these aren't the mib2 standard ones for anyone casually reading the thread... the link is on post 611 for that. Exciter who should get the credit (I loved it when he found the registered patent to the file system). Step 11 should be the only thing that needs to be done on that in his PDF or in Darkstar above step 4 can be left out ... I reckon from what I've read and what people said about the ECE 2017 file of just overwriting the NDS file with the old one.

Is that basically the same method of over writing the single file ?. Don't think it was acknowledged on the thread it worked for mib1 sd based mapping. Somebody was asking for a solution further up.

If you look at the link and compare with what you have think you might recognise the files, failing that it won't be that.

What I did,

I purchased a 2015/2016 card off ebay which worked with the car, I deleted the files off my original 2014 card and pasted the new files onto it. I didn't format the card.

And it worked.

I have looked on the HERE maps update for SEAT I have 0059 which is 2016/2017 it looks like 0064 is out now so 2017 or 2017/2018

It's probably the juggling of overwriting the new files with that single file came in with mib2 perhaps ?. I know people were buying eBay cards some had success others didn't, then the new wave of success with the Exicter method at the turn of the year. So mib1 uses the hidden partition which is outside of the normal sd partition so those that reformat, leave that bit alone, doesn't require an additional file. Then the latter mib2 uses that plus that additional ndf file that is carried over from the original card. Reckon that's basically it or something like it . If not at some point with mib2 they changed the file structure to the one that's currently used. The thread spans from when mib2 came in.

Just to confirm a successful upgrade using the notabenem method, apart from the part number step 4 which I didn't do and it still works.

Gone from an 0430 to 0820, many thanks :)

I'm in the process of doing the MIB1 update above again. Will post up if it works for me, it worked last time.

Which card have you got in your car right now? Why not just update that card instead of buying another one?

It's a 64 plate so the V3 card. How much is it to simply update the card rather than purchase another? I was under the impression buying the update files was around a similar price to that eBay auction for the card, but with slightly more messing around?

As you can tell, this will be my first time updating and would rather have a spare, separate card that can be used as back-up if anything goes wrong!

I've got a 66 plate cupra 280 with a v1 card and mib2. Just copied the old files to the computer over the weekend, downloaded the new nav files from the link on here. Followed the instructions to format the card, copy over the new files then copied over my original overall.nds file.

Voila, all works.

Sounds pretty simple when it's written down like that, will have a go at it this weekend and see what happens. Is the link where you downloaded from the HERE maps one by any chance?

Just to double check, which version of the MIB do you have and what does the version information say in your nav screen?

Here's mine pre and post upgrade:

I will look at those details this evening. I'd imagine it will be similar to your pre settings.

I doubt it will work for yours, my system is strange it didn't work then did all of a sudden.
If my system is similar to yours, what's the best way of achieving the update? I'm assuming not the way I was thinking about doing it?
