Next was onto my next interior lighting project. I ordered some led trim lights for the doors to come on with the courtesy lights.

So I removed the door card and got to work fitting it into the trim gaps where I wanted it.

Also ordered some puddle lights as well.

So drilled the door card.

And mounted the light.

Then soldered the loom together and wired into the courtesy light so they all come on when the door is open.

Then waited for darkness.....

Only managed drivers side due to weather but over all I'm happy with them. Not sure how cheesy the seat logos are may swap for plain white at some stage but it's different and I like them!

Also tidied up my vacuum hoses for the DV and FPR. These failed before so got new lines and routed them away from under the inlet manifold and ran along side the fuel rail where there should be a lot less heat.

Also ran a T off of the FPR line and decided to run a hose from it into the cabin for my boost gauge so it's all ready to wire and plumb in when my pillar pod arrives.

PITA it was.

Wipers off and scuttle panel lifted up driver side.

Started by drilling a small hole in the firewall.

Then another hole in the grommet next to the main loom and fed the hose inside.

Then glovebox out again and after a while managed to locate the hose and pull a good length of it inside then sealed the grommet nicely with silicone as it comes into the car.

For now I capped the hose and tucked it out the way all ready to plumb in then out everything back together again!

Now as soon as the pillar pod arrives I can mount the gauges and run the wires to the light switch and literally plug the vacuum line in.

As promised...

Here is what I did to my boot mate...
Original boot floor was shagged and had dog hair which wouldn't come out!
So I chucked that, bought some 12mm mdf, cut a hole for spare wheel and covered it with acoustic cloth off eBay.

Had spare wheel refurbed in BMW silver and new rubber too....

Thought it turned out alright

I have a project for the boot next year.

Will involve a Mdf floor but will split in half as I will have the battery re located to the left side of the boot towards the seats in that corner hidden in a carpeted box.

There will be more to that too but il reveal more when the time comes.

Looking forward to the battery relocate though, alter the bay slightly, bigger heat shield and move the filter more toward the front right corner.

Will move the catch can over in the new space also and probably have room for cold side DV kit in there too.

More to come before all that so watch this space.

I have cleaned the Ronals up to go back on for the winter and was going to swap fronts to rear to help even the tyre wear. So I went to fit one of them to the rear and I find what looks to be spigot ring in the wheel meaning it will not go on the hub. Took me a while to work out what was going on then I had another look at the front spacers and realised its not a spigot ring, it's the spacer sheared off.....

That would explain the wheel wobble at high speed before I took the wheels off and put the team dynamics on for the summer.

Not good......

Suffice to say I am no longer running spacers at the moment! Not sure if I want to again either!

It won't keep the car off road I'm just not using spacers at the moment. Not overly fussed for winter and the summer wheels are 8j anyway so I don't use spacers. Will be interesting to see the outcome of this though.

Winter wheels all back on now. Must admit they are such a good looking wheel.

Suit the car.

I have been told the spacers were not right for my car even though advertised as such and confirmed by staff before buying. I did check before tightening up but appears my hub lip is about 1mm to long causing the failure. Something apparently I should have picked up on?!?

Was they on the rear? I had the same problem

Thats on the rear with the hub nut cap on.
I knew about the problem before I fitted them but it would be easy to miss of you didn't know.

No that's the issue the rears were fine and still are fine. It was the fronts that failed both sides.
