Excellent! I'll probably do mine tomorrow. I see you've fitted a 90 degree Lambda boss. Have you noticed much difference in power/spool up? No EML?

Definitely feels a bit pokier and turbo spools up quicker. Done about 200 miles and no EML yet so fingers crossed. Very pleased with it. Doesn't sound loud atall (I've removed centre section so only have standard back box) just a bit raspier

Thanks. Will get mine on the ramps tomorrow and fit the downpipe and decat along with a few other bits.

I've had 3" down pipes on a few Leons now but have always had them mapped at the same time so I've never had an accurate before and after comparison on the same map.

What other bits you fitting? This is my first turbo car. AUQ cupra. Don't know weather to get mapped or not.

Other bits are SAI removal and blanking, N249 bypass, and catch can fitting. This should remove most of the potential for boost leaks. Will fit a front mount intercooler before mapping.

Definitely get the car remapped. A good custom map makes the world of difference. I've had Jabba, APR, GIAC, Upsolute, REVO and AMD maps on previous Leons. I'll go to Bill (Badger 5) for my custom map on this car.

Is that all your doing/ done to yours? All I've done mechanically is n249 bypass and downpipe decat. I want to fit a catch can but not sure what the best can is and not confident on doing it. My Cupra has done 115k tho would you advise a remap with that milage? What leon you got mate?

I think it's important to make sure the car is ready for mapping. Mine is the early top spec Cupra, AUQ with rain sensor, memory seats, ESP etc. Since buying it a few months back, it's had Lemforder bottom arms and ball joints, new coil packs, timing belt and water pump, new plugs, full service incl all fluids and filters, crankshaft position sensor, Turbosmart piston DV and a new Bosch MAF sensor.

Before mapping, I'll do the downpipe/decat, cat back (Probably Cobra) and front mount intercooler. The car is on 95k miles.

115k is nothing for a 1.8T. The K03S turbo is as reliable as they come. On a well maintained Cupra, I'd expect no less lifetime than 250k miles at a conservative estimate. You'll sacrifice a little bit of clutch life with a remap and you'll burn a little more fuel. That is it though. Don't always go for the cheapest option and she'll see you right.

how can you tell if an n249 bypass has been done? I put my exhaust back to standard yesterday, previous owner had a home made straight through decat done! Awful job, he had a 90 degree turn from the downpipe! Up for MOT on Saturday, wont pass without cat fitted! Don't miss the noise, but the lag is killin me!!

If the N249 has been bypassed there'll be a hose directly from the bottom of the intake manifold to the top of the dump valve, possibly with a t-piece to the fuel pressure regulator depending on the year of the car (earlier AUQs have 2 vacuum nipples on the manifold, 1 for N249 and one for the FPR).

Didn't get as much time as I'd have liked today but I've done the N249 bypass and fitted the catch can.

Started with this:

Engine bay before:

Boost/vacuum leak evidence at suction jet coupling:

Rubbish removed from engine bay:

Was losing light by the time I finished so this one is prior to the N249 solenoid bracket being refitted. Catch can fitted:

Had the usual nightmare with the VW single use hose clamps but it went relatively smoothly otherwise apart from the lower PCV connection which snapped in my hands. Temporary repair for now but new one on order. It's under positive pressure anyway and is now totally isolated from the boost circuit.

Need to get a catch can for mine. You notice any gains or just in the long run preventing leaks?

I haven't taken it off the ramps yet Nathan, I'm waiting until I fit the 3" downpipe and de-cat tomorrow. It should be better. The boost charge circuit is tight as a drum now.

o
Nathan, clear your PMs mate, your inbox is full. How did you get on with the downpipe to turbo bolts? Did they come off easily enough?

Sorry mate will clear them out. The 4 bolts came out ok to be fair. Plenty of spray one was a little tight but working it backward and forward worked a treat
