Had a rubbish day, some mug bumped my car and didn't leave a note. Split the bumper and cracked the paint.

not good mate sorry to hear that, could be a good time to upgrade to the fr bumper though

Yeah I'm tempted, there not too much money on eBay, just got to find one in good condition. Can't believe they didn't leave a note, can't imagine doing myself.

People are so dishonest, however some are just such bad drivers they may not have even noticed.

Are there any cctv cameras where it happened

So 2.5 years newer but higher mileage. FR+ has loads of kit such as Xenons, nav, auto lights and wipers etc. so £10k should be easy I'd imagine!

So you have got a nice car. It does the job you need it to, looks good, goes well and is largely reliable.

Because your mileage is high, you are worried about wear and tear, so decide to buy a worse car that is probably already worn and a 2nd car (for fun) that won't be as nice as the car you started with. You loose the nice car and end up with 2 worse cars.

There is no logic mate, you will only lose out. Run the leon into the ground, or swap it for something else when you are bored with it. Just don't try to save money by swapping cars, it never works.

NEVER!
Swap cars because you want to, it will cost more.

Trade down because you need to, but stay within what you need (i.e. a 1.0 quoted at 65mpg doing mostly motorway will realistically do 30ish, better get a 1.6)

Trade up because you want to and you can!

Not necessarily trying to free up money spent on cars as such. My student loan would allow me to pay for repairs on cars, unless it blows the engine but that's unlikely provided it's been looked after.

Since I'm in uni and only part time working it would take me forever to get £5k. To pay my dad back would be a massive weight off my shoulders.

If I could keep my leon perfect I'd be happy but it's always one thing after another with it. I went to get a dent removed months back and ended up with a smashed and replaced window :( I can almost guarantee I'll get a bumper respray and it will get scraped within a week! Just my bad luck :(
