Induction kit/air filter

Ah some constuctive comments finially, what did you do with maf housing mate ? Ive got some meshing similar to maf housing found before sensor on other cars.will do it tommorrow.downside is I havent got vagcom to check fuel trims and maf scaling etc any ideas on how other way to check?. Pm me mate as theirs some children are restless because cbeebies has finished for today :

Doesn't come across in the best way does it.

I think the reason a lot of the kits are expensive is due to the large amount spent on R and D making them preform as well as they can, also the quality of the materials used.

I've run a couple of turbocharged cars with out any sort of air filters, just a very fine mesh grill to stop any small animals being sucked in
I did have a bit of a stocking over the maf for a while as it worked better than the mesh, till the girlfriend found the other stocking in the car

The last car did over 100000 miles running without a filter without any ill effects
Although probably not recommended if your drving through the desert or similar

What do you mean thats a nice attitude? I have no loyalty to any tuner as they just supply a service period.I got too caught up with regal autosport when I had my corsa vxr learnt the hard way 14k later.

Lol you made a sh1t choice getting a VXR, nevermind complaining about a certain tuner.

Nice one mate sounds good people are to fixated on what tuners say and do etc and too scared to try somthing its trail and error basically i never said to anyone im doing this to my car you lot should too. Simply trying somthing if it works sorted.ive been modifying cars and spending alot of money on them for years ranging from a 280bhp fully forged the works corsa vxr to a focus st 340bhp to a cliosport 210bhp to a audi s3 270bhp so id like to think my R&D has came from all the money spent and time investing and trying& driving from my experience with these cars ,time spent reading up on item specific parts for these cars ive lost count and still learning now..

No.

So I think I will follow the crowd and stick to well known tuners that do that on a daily basis.

Lol Im not influencing Any decisions by what I posted I just know the tuners will add their bit to the part and over price it eg 40odd pound in labour to fit a dv bov ie forge spacer lool I can do it in 10mins job done I agree certain things need to be left to the pros but not all.i hope I've simplified this enough now for ,this is getting stupid the original post was which induction to get you can gripe on as much as you like but im making this my last post getting childish.?:thanks:

when have I ever stated that you should get tuners to fit the stuff??

My point was that i'd rather buy an induction kit from a well known tuner company than make a crazy home made induction kit

Im recommending Evoms also. The sound is good and the flow is nice. =)
According to Cold air intakes generally there is few things I would point out.

First one: They don´t lower the intake air much more than a standard.
I got like max +10 degrees with standard intake and around +5 degrees with Evoms. Comparing to surrounding air that is.
So not so much, but maybe a little difference. also the casign around the cone is essential, because without that it just sucks in heated air from the engine and the result is actually lower than on standard intake.

Second: Well obviously it makes the air flow better and from that way around it could increase the motor power a littlebit. At least it responds to throttle much better.

Third: The sounds they make mate. Its just sweet.

I've got the P-Flo on my FL Cupra. I bought it for £160 from AwesomeGTI on their black Friday sale a while back. Before i put it on the car, it was making 236bhp on the RR.

Since then, I've been using BP Ultimate and V-Power, (Mostly the latter) and put it on the rollers again, it made 260bhp.

So, the filter plus decent fuel made a 24bhp increase, of course the weather may have helped as when it went on on last it was a cold day.

I'm not bothered about noise at all, and the P-Flo is quite subtle IMO. It was pretty simple to fit, looks good and the quality is very good too. Even if you're not on a budget, for less than £200 you can't really go wrong with it.

Its something i thought about doing but was stopped by the fact you would have to run it without a air filter.

But in sure you can buy a carbinio intake (spelt right?) with one inside. To replace that oem part connected to the front.

Or go on the forge website and buy one air filter housing from the twintake?

I personally think fitting an intake without the filter is asking for bother. I've seen his manky a filter can get after a few weeks so I'd imagine all that dust getting inside your engine isn't doing it any favours.

The reason I went for the Revo intake was down to the constant R&D and proof of how well it works.

Yeah, the mesh stops any "large" particles like stones, wasps and birds. =)
but it wont stop the very fine stone dust etc like matter. And that acts like a grinding paste when they get sucked in the sylinders.
May work well on the highway and tarmac but if you run it on dusty gravel....

That looks like a nice mod, but im also one of them that cant help but think of the results.

Update ran the car today and not just saying this but its ten times more responsive ive taken the risk with this but famous qoute of mine who dares wins I had a stage 2 amd map and made 353/362 tq but I can safley say it feels alot more torqueier not correct expression but you get the picture ive checked messing seems strong sealed with tigerseal upol.i get esp kicking in at 3rd and fourth a tad if Im heavy footed. I invite betty_swollox to pop over if he likes and I can show him not being funny at all 100% genuine would be good to have someones opinion in person..

Mate I am not doubting the performance, I just don't think it would be safe

It would be like me bolting on a bigger turbo but not changing any of the internals. Yeah it'll feel quicker but can't imagine it lasting long!
