Cheers Al
What have we got at the moment ? 340?

Al did you go for an R?

Yes the mk2 is 340mm. And yes sir I did.

I have been without my own car since May and the lack of info from SEAT forced my hand as I needed to get something and I didn't want to keep waiting for something that could have taken loads longer than it looks like it will take now - and I didn't want to get something with no DSG, no LSD and what could have been "only" 265bhp.

Don't get me wrong i think the Leon will be fantastic and no doubt quicker on the twisties on a dry day than the Golf. However I am looking forward to having something different after three SEAT's and am also looking forward to being able to put all the power down all the time in all the gears - wheelspin and wheelhop was the only thing that really frustrated me about driving my 250bhp 1.8T Sport Toledo and both 360bhp Mk2 Leon Cupra's - ultimately it does slow you down especially on a day when it's not bone dry :)

The mk2 Leon Cupra AND the R have the same front brakes as the S3 and Golf R. That is 345mm disc's. I bet the 5mm smaller ones go with the calipers too, but wouldn't try it, though! I'm hoping for a 4WD, 'cause of the icy roads of Lapland, Finland. Not betting my life on it, though! Now I have to get ready for Boxing Day footy!

Hey guys I hope you have had a nice Christmas!

I saw Scotts mock up thought it looked good, I just did a messy mock up of the Cup Racing colours.

EDIT: I guess mine looks more of a blue.. I think I need to change the settings of my monitor.

Just checked the Thatcham database again. There is no mention of a lower powered version for the UK.

SC and Five Doors - two models each - manual and DSG, four in total.

Of course, this might not be final, but could be the first batch of cars available. It could also indicate the "performance pack" being standard on UK cars.

i cant see them using a "performance pack" on the Cupra , the S3 and Golf R dont have them? same engines
if any thing i would have thought the FR would have the performance pack?
and if ACC is standard then deffo wont have it as an option

Yer, I didn't mean power as the performance pack. From MSN:

What is the new 2014 SEAT Leon Cupra Performance Pack?
Underlining the importance of circuit work to the development of the car, the new Leon Cupra will be offered with an optional Performance Pack (though UK standard equipment is yet to be confirmed, so it could end up being standard).

The Performance Pack adds Brembo brakes and softer compound tyres that will deliver increased grip at the expense of wearing out a little faster. Apparently this is quite the potent combination.

Thinking hopefully we will just see the one 280HP version after all. Hopefully the brembo kit mentioned above will be std. too.

Would be very nice if it was. Wonder what the £££ for it all will be though.

The basic Golf GTi is £26,125 for a solid colour car, 3 doors and manual gears and no options. Add the performance pack and DSG and its about £29k.

Leon FR 1.8T is £20470 with no options - but it only has 180PS so not comparable to the GTi.

I would doubt very much that VAG would have SEAT have the Leon Cupra in the UK with 60bbhp more than the GTi plus Brembo Brakes, Sticky Tyres, Dynamic Chassis Control, LSD and possible DSG as standard for the same price as a boggo standard Golf GTi. We will see though :)

£25995 for Mk3 Leon Cupra 265ps. DSG is standard
£27500 for Mk3 Leon Cupra 280ps. DSG is standard plus LSD Brembo brakes, leather seats and dynamic chassis control. You can order one right now ;)

Cupra R due out in November 2014 - 4x4 300bhp with possible performance pack upgrade to 320bhp ;). Yours for £29500 ;)

You can get manual but I think they are an option for the same price. Need to check.

You better not be mucking me about with that mate. If that is the case I may end being a VERY happy man come end of 2014 ;)

If the R is coming in 2014, I'd be very surprised, as this would be a big change of course for SEAT, leaving a big gap without a runout model. It could also put people off buying a Cupra (maybe they don't care).

Personally, if it's true that puts a bit of a kybosh on my plans to order a Cupra in Jan. :banghead2
