Wasn't too sure if they'd cover that particular revision? Or have they changed the rules on which ones now get swapped? Last time I'd looked at the recall it wasn't covering the revision I had.

Love these cars with their consumable electronics, MAF, coilpacks, CTS, CCMs, lambda sensors, oil level sensor... :doh:

yeh the cts is/can be a random one?out of intrest mate with a dodgey coil pack what problems do you get?lack of power is it and engine error code coming up and eml light on?i only ask because ive never had any realy go on me yet so if one dose go I know the problem that arises....all these new cars and all that lol

If it goes properly (like 2 of mine did) you'll know about it when it does. Car sounds like it's dying, you'll get the same beeping you get when you pull away with the handbrake slightly on, accompanied by the EML flashing. The engine will be juddering and boost will be all over the place as it's trying to fight the increased load caused by the dead cylinder(s). Sounds a lot like an old petrol lawnmower but mine had the smell of cooking catalytic converter in place of fresh cut grass...

Fortunately we have another car so we popped to eurocarparts and for just over £100 we got a new set of 4.

Just remember it's always worth giving Seat a call to see if your cars been done, the coil pack recall on the mk1 is still in force, I had all 4 of mine changed yesterday by seat free of charge.

Minor service, replace oil and filter, pollen filter and unblocked 2 drainage things. Got 3 news papers in my passenger front and rear to soak up water before stuff starts rotting. Told by the mechanic I have a leaking water pump and rocker cover gasket gone and the spark plugs sat in oil and are partially corroded. £450 quote for cam belt, pump, sort out the gasket and some sort of spring for it and new plugs.

Re-fitted standard airbox
Fitted a Red dog bone mount. Unfortuantly sheered one of the bolts to the cross-member but nothing I can do. Its booked in for a Cambelt change on Wednesday so I'll get them to look at it.

Tomorrows jobs:

Clean the car for new pictures of new wheels
Do gear linkage reset

Next jobs:

Change gearbox oil
Fuel filter

ahhh yeh I get what you mean mate,haha sounds like the old piston slap that dose jezz the car can be rough,its my 2nd car anyway now as my old trusted clio 1149 cc beast is used for work,so its only the wkend it gets used,ive heard only to change the packs when they go not for the sake of its as they can/are very touchy engines in the way?might be worth to keep one spare :)

Finally solved my boost issue! The wastegate was sticking shut causing the overboost, freed it up with copious amounts of WD40 yesterday and it was a different car all together, looks like its a bit sticky again today although not so bad. Still at least I know where the problem is now, hopefully it will get better with use and not require a turbo off proper clean and free up. Time for a remap!

Also replaced my broken splitter.

On another note, the temperature gauge seems to drop down randomly, especially when giving it some. It never overheats and everything other than the gauge seems to function normally (heaters, fans etc). Is this the coolant temperature sensor that controls that gauge? What is the thing with prongs that goes into the header bottle is that just a level sensor or is that the CTS?

Sounds like your thermostat need changing

Did a pcv simplication and changed the hoses off the boost pipe.
Didnt take long at all, and the car feel alot smoother and idles alot better.
Does any1 know if i should have put a one way valve on the brake booster?

Fitted a red Powerflex dogbone bush yesterday. Simple job in then end.

First time properly under my car since I got it (to my shame) so I had a check of other bits and pieces and all other bushes are in great shape. I had a mechanic do the wishbone bushes when I got the car but to my surprise the droplink and some others had been polybushed by the last owner.

I had a horrible clunk when taking off in reverse and a lot of movement when putting power down on gear changes. Both have been resolved with the new dogbone bush.

I have the steering wheel shaking at idle that I was expecting after changing the bush based on the reviews on here. I'll give it some time to bed in but if it remains I'll up the idle RPM a few to solve it in Vagcom. The rattle disappears as soon as i hold a tiny bit of acceleration.

Had new ARB bushes to go in. Had a look at the bushes and they are OE but definitely not original and in great shape. The poly's can wait a while.
