REVO vs APR (differences in potential gains)

i was at that same rolling road day.

To be fair, the plots on my car were very similar to the apr golf r that was there - mine was running the revo beta code and not the version you can buy now. Both the apr and revo plots were pretty nice.

My car was missing a bit of boost that day which was fixed soon after by way of replacing the uprated boost pipe with the standard pancake deal and tightening the connections - there was oil weeping at both sides of the intercooler. As i understand it the new owner made 10bhp more fly hp and a few more wheel power on the same rollers just recently on a warmer day.

Weeg's plot with the new revo code was awesome - the torque curve was lovely and flat and ultimately his car made the most wheel power on that day. In my eyes it got the best result as the area under the curves was the largest.

Regarding comparing calculated fly wheel hp between a apr golf r which had the rear wheels disconnected to run on a 2 wheel rolling road and converting 302whp to be 364fly bhp despite no losses vs 2 revo cars that made over 320whp on the same rollers on the same day and funnily made 0.3bhp and 0.6bhp less than the apr car at an apr dealer - not sure how that works or how it was set up to calculate, but the fly wheel bhp results were not apples for apples. The slow time and terminal done by the golf the following day indicates either;

1) the guy cant drive
2) the car had an issue
3) the performance isnt all that on the road
4) a combination of all of the above

not trying to stir the **** - stating facts.

My 2p to the OP.

Don't get hung up on the figures mate. Both highly rated tunes and either way your car will be a different animal.

I based my choice (APR) not on figures but everything else. The ability to change setting via cruise stalk. Upgrading maps is free and reading many reviews on customer service was what swayed me.

You won't be disappointed with how the car performs with either company

P.s hurry up and get it done! You won't regret it :D

True that.

Can you shrink WeeG's signature by the way - it hurts my eyes :)

Harking back to the advice I sought and got before I went from Stg1 to 2+, get a before and after RR so that you can see the difference in real terms in the same conditions on the same day and check it does on the road what you want it to. Anything else is subjective/irrelevant.

Should let poverty back for a bit of fun ;-)

No chance. If you want to hear him prattling on about everything Pro APR and Anti Revo, you just need to look on his Private VAG Tuning page on Facebook.

Being a car-less person now, I want to know how to tune my Mountain Bike as my legs are taking a while to provide the extra power I need

I think we all can agree that a stage 2+ golf r running a 13.4@107 is a bit funky...

In contrast I have time slips of other stage 2+ APR golf Rs running low 12s.

Hard to say what exactly happened, isn't it Al? :)

Not really... I used to have a fabia vrs evan and used briskoda forum and theres a seat ibiza cupra doing 1/4 in that time confirmed too id expect a stage 2 golf r to be well in 12s given the power and drivetrain.

interestingly though the top 5 or 6 1.4 tsi engines on the 1/4 leaderboard all use revo maps now im not having a dig but not one uses yourselves or another tuner for that matter which speaks volumes

To the op, why did u even start the thread? It seems u made ur mind up before u typed the 1st word. Just go revo and be happy, if u prefer their website and figures. Any differences will be small so just enjoy it.
No offence meant, and I dont have revo or apr so im neutral :D

By the fact that u slated apr pretty much from the start, including rubbishing evan@aprs reasonable replies, and praised revo.
Revo guys love revo and likewise apr guys.
In any case, whichever company you choose, they offer updates to existing customers. So if u find yourself 2 horsepower short, it wont take long for the tuner to find it, or a different dyno

13.4 in a Golf R 2+?! Would expect more than that....

Hmm, a bit poo that time. My Golf R did 12.3@109mph at Santa Pod into a 30mph headwind and ran 5th gear at the end of the run in limp mode!

However the APR stage2+ DSG car that was there the same day only managed a 13.08@106mph.
