£180 is the Bargin of the century. Where did you find that sam.

Have you given consideration to the Quaife group buy Sam, expensive but bearable if fitted with a clutch that will be on the cards for you soon.

£180 is a bargain for a turbo, but as Bill pointed out to me when I was last up there it's expensive if it shits itself and bits go where they shouldn't.....

Hopefully this never happens and it lasts the test of time & abuse.

Sam if you've got to do the clutch in the near future do not miss out on sticking a diff in there.

Group buy price on those Quaife's in that other thread are very very good. Would complete your car.

James car is savage :p

Yeah I will get the map tweaked, there should be tons of timing to be added, currently running less than stock due to a valve seal issue, hence the large port going on.
For me it's more, what power can the relentless v3 manifold flow because I'm sure the turbo can flow more than what the manifold can allow.

How is the Relentless holding up?

Sam I've got a problem what you may have overcome with upper front strut brace, I've cut the section out and it fits great however the bonnet shock is fowling on the brace quite a bit.

How did you over come this? Did you bend the seam welded bracket that it connects to or cut mor off the brace?

here we go again :/

hello all, not been online much lately. i have had some good and bad news with the car. lets start with the bad news.
my turbo support bracket split off the turbo(broken weld) and has caused my manifold to snap. bearing in mind the gt28 is a very heavy turbo. this happened simply by pulling away in traffic.

by the way im pleased to say this has NOT happened to any K04 cars touch wood (v3).

so now for the good news.

i have got myself a large port head, currently undergoing some work. new valve guides, pressure testing and skimming.
i have also got some ferrea super alloy exhaust valves to go in, of course new seals ect.

this seems to be a familiar sight sadly

i have been spending well again but this time on top of the range goods (apart from the turbo which is in A1 condition after inspection)

aks/ina cast t25 top mount manifold

aks custom downpipe with decat

in the making

new oil drain

i also had a play with my rocker cover, i read some on line reviews on VHT wrinkle paint. this got the best rating for a oem finish. any how i bought it and borrowed my father inlaws inferred sprayers lamp. the finish has come out soooo much better than i could have thought, WIN WIN

im very pleased, also a very tough finish.

finally i bough this defi boost gauge to make myself feel better

thats pretty much it for now, just waiting for the head to come back before i can start rebuilding.
yes its a set back but atleast my car will be better for it ;) thats what i tell the missus anyway.
thanks for reading

Not much to update, I took delivery of my new defi boost gauge, forgetting it was a 60mm gauge instead of 52mm like my previous gauges. This meant I would have to bore out my nomad pillar, easy to do with a dremmel but having enough material is key. Luckily there is just the right amount of room :) meaning there is no need to buy a 60mm nomad pillar should you upgrade in gauge size. There is no room for error.

Few photos

First impressions are very good. Looks awesome and will suit the lcr clocks very well. I'm glad it's a 60mm gauge as its so pretty :)

This is the nomad pillar bored out (excuse my dirty hands, just removed my downpipe)

Thanks man, it's the readers ride updates that keeps me going, I would have lost interest in my car a long time ago otherwise. Support from others really helps [B)]

Yes the digits on the gauge light up red, so hard to find a oem looking gauge for the lcr, if you read back through my rr I must have had 7 or 8 different gauges now.

As for the strut brace, my bonnet strut does touch my brace but not enough to stop it closing. There is a way around this (I will be doing this also) I will dig out the pictures I found from another readers ride.

It's also something you can look back on in years to come and say I did that ;)

Also I used your idea and painted my covers white also and it's not looking shiny or impressive as the lacquer has messed it up :0/ thinking of trying some white high temp gloss :)

I spent the best part of 2 hours just reading your thread and its an inspiration to follow and see further updates you do

Keep up the good work

Any updates with the pics for the front upper strut brace Sam? Also did you have to take the bonnet off to drill the back holes to fit it?

Small update, refurbed head is now built up, and ready to fit. I also gave it a fresh coat of high temp silver paint to give it that fresh new look

Also over the last couple of weeks I have been looking at a new set of alloy wheels. At last I have found a set and have bought them. Similar style to grids but look more aggressive :)

c6f12e47790d03ae36504006951ca4c0_zps19a33a83.jpg

The colour is black chrome

These are 7 spoke compared with
Rota grids 6.
Also they are 18" so can keep my brand new tyres :) bad news these are not a uk market alloy and are being imported from the states.

Fitment is 5x100 18" 8.5j et48, spigot rings will be needed due to 73mm bore however I'm pretty sure I won't need spacers to fit over the brembos :)

Can't wait

The wheels look good Sam. Have you had enough of the stealth look? The cylinder head looks good it'll be interesting to see what difference it makes. I've finally got a AGU head to rebuild.

Thanks mate. Swapping from the bbs to lacr alloys in my mind was a good thing, but i miss how my car doesnt stand out. Hopefully these new wheels will make it stand out but without looking too loud.
Yes swapping the head to large port should open up a load of timing and maybe get closer to the 400 mark :)
