Since iv had it its had a decat and jr filter fitted but I think the previous owner had an induction kit at some point! Would a spacer on the precat do anything? Maybe it's sensing to high of a flow ?

I'm not sure mate, I'm not familiar with 'lambda spacers' only aware of 'mapping the sensors out' to avoid fault codes with de cats...
a decat pipe will affect second sensor, possibly first, (not sure) but not sure if it affects the mixture,
unless the flow is that much different, maybe it's 'over scavenging' probably not likely to be the case as its forced induction...hmmm......

I'm tempted to fit a catch can to eliminate the pcv issues that are common! Iv been reading a few threads on them but a bit confused on how many pipes are needed to be blanked off and reconnected ? Thanks for the offer I may haft to take you up on that! I'm goin Liverpool in the morning so ill see of the code comes up on the way there or back !

It's just the added cost of a smoke test iv just spent over a grand in the last month! Ill run again after the repair on the valve and see of it comes up again then ill know if that was the cause ! I'm prob goin to strt replacing some of the hoses soon anyway

so you would rather replace random pipes, costing you money, than find exactly which pipes are leaking via smoke test?

Well obviously no I'd rather hunt round the bay my self first then of I can find anything get a smoke test but I have noticed since Iv had the car (April 2012) there is an oily residue under the inlet mani im between the two right inlets where the pcv is but that was there when I bought it?

Could have got worse, but might not be related, it's a tricky one, I myself have '17705' pressure loss...
And lots of slightly oily patches, I'm gradually replacing parts, as they have obviously been a problem at some point in their lives, but which ones are worse, well, only a smoke test will tell...

Don't they also say that a good indication of boost leak is what psi it settles at when idle? Mine sits at 22psi which I thought was right! I just want to try and solve it without chucking too much money at it! I may do the catch can regardless to be honest but obviously want to find the issue first! Is there a way I can put I monometer on one of the smaller pipes as I'm a gas fitter so that would show if there is pressure loss? Iv seen the kits that you put on the charge pipe hose and was just wondering if I could do a test that way?

a smoke test will save you so much messing about its untrue, it'll show you where the leaks are in seconds.

by the way im not fishing for work i have enough to be getting on with, i'm just pointing out the obvious next step you should be taking.

Looks like it may haft to be that if it comes up again! Ill keep you in mind if there isn't many one a bit closer as Stockport is about 30-40 mins away from me!

Well it came it as a pending fault on the torque app but then it dissapeared! So got home had another look around the bay and found this

Look closely at the middle pipe and you can see two splits in it ! (Part of the pcv system under the inlet mani) so it looks like a catch can is in order and maybe that will stop the code coming up!

O dear! That's a little oily...
When you sort that it should be fairly noticeable.

What are catch cans like to fit, and how much are they normally? I might get one later in the year...

Would this make any difference to economy or performance??? They look fairly easy from what iv read just need to decide if I'm going to return it to the tip or run it down to the ground!?

Yes and yes I believe, it'll cause the maf to read incorrect, it'll probably suck in dirty air, and may even loose a little pressure, if the maf is reading wrong, the mixture will be wrong, (and boost pressure) so performance and mpg(due to lack of performance and wrong mix) will be upset... Looks easy, just watch nothing breaks In your hands, I broke my post inlet manifold earlier, grrr lol

The cause was a split pcv system as shown in the above pic. Things where oily under the inlet manifold so ripped it all out fitted a catch can and felt like I'd gain a bit more boost as well. I'd also had pre and post cat lamba faults but the fuel trim code I got was due to the pcv system leaking! Catch can fitted and vented to atmosphere sorted it out a treat.

Mine comes on every 500 miles or less. Have done a pcv delete but not fitted a catch can, it goes straight out the hockey puck and down the back of the car.

Could be a boost leak else where. Check the pipes that go off the left hand side of the inlet mani to the brake servo, the little a shaped rubber hose and check manifold to DV pipe and I think the fuel pressure reg might be linked as well, basically check all rubber pipes that aren't related to the coolant system. May have another leak on it somewhere
