Just found this slightly loose on the car and I can twist it and pull it back and too?? Would this cause the p0170 fault code and fuel trim error? And possibly poor fuel consumption?

Can't quite make out what your holding but this may help (hopefully)
List of possible causes:
- Intake air leaks
- Faulty front heated oxygen sensor
- Ignition misfiring
- Faulty fuel injectors
- Exhaust gas leaks
- Incorrect fuel pressure
- Lack of fuel
- Faulty Mass Air Flow (MAF) sensor
- Incorrect Positive Crankcase Ventilation (PCV) hose connection

It's the hockey puck looking valve that goes from the tip to the rocker cover? So part of boost/vacuum system

Its looking like it could be a possibility. As its the pressure control valve. Which is part of the positive crankcase ventilation system. Is there any noticeable leaks?

I was just gettin p0170 fault code up and mangent light on! Iv not run the car after taking the clip off and replacing it with a zip tie, only a temp fix till I get a new hose clamp, it was very loose could pull it out about half an inch and it would turn around with the clip on!

It's just the added cost of a smoke test iv just spent over a grand in the last month! Ill run again after the repair on the valve and see of it comes up again then ill know if that was the cause ! I'm prob goin to strt replacing some of the hoses soon anyway

What's the performance like?
I had this code a while ago (with a collection of others,) it left me alone when I sorted out the maf code (I've now moved my open cone away from the maf meter a little, and it seems happier)
Maybe your maf reading is out,
As the man from badger said, you may have a boost leak?
That valve (pcv I think) that was loose initially. May be faulty? Also, the other little valve under the inlet manifold (to the right if looking front on) can cause this I think, they're only about a fiver...
Also, any little splits or loose breather hoses may allow un metered air in...

Well iv got it on vagcom as we speak now mate I have noticed a bit of oily residue under the inlet mani but that was there when I bought the car, the performance doesn't seem off but its hard to tell the maff pulled 204 g/s in 2nd the other day so don't think that's at fault! It's really pissin me off at the mo!

Vagcom wouldn't load any fault codes for some reason just kept gettin stuck on the retrieving fault code page so put my torque app and obd Bluetooth on and didnt come up with anything. I cleared it on fri I think can't remember now . Is it possable the lower passenger side intercooler hose or piping could of been knocked or damaged when the clutch was done? As the fault has only been coming on since the clutch was changed?

Also interested in this, been getting the p0170 every few days. Doesnt seem to affect performance and seems to come on when driving steady. Can a decat cause this to come on? Sorry to join your thread.

Yeah iv got a decat but that brought the post cat eml on so fitted a spacer and that has cleared that one! Also had the pre cat but that was on before the decat so replaced that, then after the gear box the above code came on! And yeah it comes on when driving steady! Very strange

Indeed. I had the decat code originally too, was going to fit spacer but i managed to order the wrong size. Hasnt come on recently so left it. Im running 280BHP and certainly isnt lacking power at the mo. I have new coil packs and plugs and idling is very smooth inc via torque app.

It idles fine and pulls like he'll since the decat and smf conversion! Something isn't right somewhere and I have no idea what can't see any split pipes. Looking like a smoke text but don't know where local does it or if I could do it at home?

You need specialist equipment (mid to high hundreds) a lot of money!
I'm still wondering if it might be related to the de cat, perhaps phone up a local tuner, for advice?

Or whoever mapped yours, d4ns?
Was it long after re map?

I believe the trim errors, can be caused by long term adjustments to rectify (what the ecu thinks is) a problem, perhaps it disagrees with the map/ decat? I've got this lot to look forward to, most likely...
