Zymol does smell lovely but it leaves so much dust I feel like I always have to clean the car again!

Gearbox went ka-boom over the weekend :(

Car is now in the workshop waiting for a replacement box ...sigh :(

Recently replaced the Slave cylinder but now the whole box failed (108K mileage)

Death rattle from the box when driving not good!

260 mile trip yesterday! used a tank, all but the red light! average 26mpg, not bad considering the majority was in tripple figures.

also had a red MK1 lcr hanging around for a few miles, giving the leons a bad name undertaking, using the hard shoulder and cutting people up. c'mon when there are other people on the road behave! although when it was empty we both had some fun B-)

i need to go stg 2+ asap! i NEEEED more!

Well yesterday I went to fit my new APR fuel pump from Awesome Gti costing £430 only to find it wasn't going to fit properly.
The top sensor was facing the wrong direction and was going to foul on the engine. Which would break the not available sensor very quickly.
What makes it worse is I've had to pay the postage of £10 to return the pump although it was not fit for purpose which is totally shocking.
I contacted Evan but I'm still awaiting a reply.
Pretty disappointed that a £430 APR rebuild pump was allowed to go for sale when it's not right.
Also it looks like its done a million miles.
Here's the pics to show the sensor position and the difference in pump condition. Bearing in mind the newest looking one is the one for my car that's done 17k

This one shows the correct position of the sensor

This one is of the APR and the sensor doesn't adjust it just tightens up

Notice how pitted the pump looks
Not the best £430 I've spent plus the £10 postage plus the £10 to send my pump for recon which was a 5000 mile pump from a golf R.

That isn't acceptable kev. Not good from APR to let something out of their factory in such poor condition. I know it is a re-build but anything I have ever bought that has been re conditioned has always looked brand new! Did you buy it from Awesome GTI ? Surely they should have checked it is fit for purpose before allowing you to make the trip there for fitting? Such a shame

Fault light on the dash, car is 6 months old with 2.5k miles on the clock. Not happy, on the phone to stealers, booked in for Wedensday. [:@]

That's not good!

Mind you my parents did just wait 4/5 months for their new Cayenne for it to be missing a multi function heated steering wheel, which they ordered, and it can't be retro fitted... Sounds like the dealer is going to have to order them a new vehicle.

I didn't go to them awesome Gti shipped it to me.
Supposedly they checked it and APR would've checked it.
Very poor

I really want a Merc C class as my next car. The problem is BMW make awesome motorway dervs. I need something with the highest economy and comfortable on the motorway. If the c class engines start matching BMW then ill be all over it.

Well it should be good for motorway cruising....I don't think there is a great difference in economy between the two, mind you as its a company car I'm not really fussed! It's going to be better than my current A3 Quattro! :D

If it was a brand new outright purchase unit, Then I'd agree it wouldn't be acceptable.

However this is a Rebuild unit, These are used fuel pumps which have been rebuilt to APR's upgrade HPFP specification and function as brand new! Although the exterior of the pump may look a little scruffier than a brand new one, the only parts of it which aren't new are the Sensor, the housing and the unions.

If a brand new unit was required, it would have been £722 at the current on-sale price, Not £430 as per the exchange fuel pump.

Hope this helps :)
Cheers, AL.

When the pump arrives back and fitted it has 1 years guarantee and if I have any problems with the sensor failing or breaking I have my email and my previous posts as proof that the pump was not satisfactory the first time I received it.

As for being a rebuild pump with new internals yeah that part I agree with although for £430 I would've liked the exterior finish to be to a much higher standard.
Lets hope it performs as it should once fitted then that's the end of it.

Waiting for the AA to come and see my broken down car. Not happy, phones nearly out of battery too. If anyone wants to suggest what may be the cause of losing power and EPC light, traction control, engine management and tyre pressure all coming on at the same time, please do. Thanks
