Yeah I think you'd be mad not to get the rifle drilled one's personally.

TBH I might go for the Tuscan one's when the time comes, sod it ;)

"Sod it"... Sounds so familiar... Made me chuckle... :D

How's the interior work coming along Rich? Did you manage to order that acoustic carpet?

These cars scrub up well. Even mine is filthy at the min, and its in the garage!

SCN winter 2012 LCR mod of choice is now fitted:

Also decided it was time to trial fit the S3 bottle cover:

I'm not happy with the finish on it yet and also noticed today that having extended it out to cover the gap down the left side of it I've made it too tall and it now fouls on the bonnet :doh: so it needs sanded quite a way down and then repainted.

I can't decide whether to leave the engine covers gloss black or change them all to matt black :think:

cheers for looking :)

I was worried about this being a problem

I stupidly never even considered it to be a problem. With it fitted I closed the bonnet and it doesn't sit flush, it's the little things like this that really make me think 'why bother' [:@]

I preferred matt black when I had my plastics fitted, with a nice quality lacquer finish. Nice and deep shine achieved. Stick with it Rich. It looks top notch, and will give a different look to the bay.

One suggestion I would make is get them professionally sprayed with 2K paint. Far more enduring and once painted, you won't need to do them again; I seemed to re-do mine every year or so because of a scuff mark or oil mark...

Great updates as always :) Love the Aeros. Why weren't they fitted as standard???

What sort of money are you talking to get the rods fitted then? What other bits would you also replace at the same time?

Nice motor mate!

Not sure yet for fitting, still waiting for the rods to arrive then i'll be straight down the garage to have a word with them.

Along with my rods I'm doing:

* oe connecting rod bearings
* timing belt
* Ferrea race exhaust valves x 8 OE Size
* OE Piston Rings 1.8t 20v
* water pump
* oil pump

I'm considering taking all the front grills to be done professionally, so been thinking maybes I should take the engine covers too. Makes sense as I need the large centre grill resprayed the small upper centre one done and also need the main engine cover redone.

Really tidy mate, engine bay looks great.

Cheers Maz

Another Mk4 aero wiper convert joins the gang, welcome aboard :) They're a nice touch aren't they!

Bay is looking mint mate. I prefer the gloss look personally. It's different to most and is what separates yours from others.

Keep perservering with the S3 washer cover, it'll look ace when done.

Good progress mate. Once the rods and other bits turn up it'll be a serious car this.

Rich you should just buy my engine ;) its almost the same spec as you want to do, except i had the 1mm over sized Ferrera valves, and all new internals + the extra head work.

Saying that I'm still waiting for the rods ect to turn up I've decided to crack on with getting some other stuff fitted to the car, I had planned on fitting the wishbones myself but due to the sh1te weather and being very busy at work my motor went into the garge yesterday and had the following fitted:

Polybushed wishbones:
P1050350.jpg

Powerflex Rear Beam Mount Bushes:
P1050354.jpg

And THS FR3 engine mounts:
P1050331.jpg

I've not had the car out for a decent blast yet, weather permitting that'll be tommorrow :)

I also scanned the car the other day and had code:

17861 - Exhaust Gas Temp Sensor 1 (G235): Open or Short to Plus

I've checked on the net and found that it could be a connection problem, so I've had the battery out today and cleaned the contacts on the cable under there, I've cleared the code so now need to see if it comes back. Hopefully I'll not need a new EGT sensor.

Fingers crossed these rods ect turn up soon so I can get it all fitted and the engine run in asap.

Cheers for looking :)
