Hello m8 not heard from you in a while. The front Recaros are probably 5 kg more per seat over the lcr seats. The s3 rear bench is probably 5kg less as its hollow due to being a 2 seater and doesn't have the reinforcing and seat belt mechanism. Very light.

Yeah, i've be on the down low, but still reading the threads here whenever i get some minutes to spare, i always loved the S3 seats but someone mis-informed me in the past about them being a lot heavier than the standard seats, its nice to know they were full of sh1t.

When i broke the S3, the seats must have weighed nearly twice as much as my recaros, am i full of sh1t?
You can easily handle LCR recaro to get them in, it took 2 of us to get the S3 ones out making sure they didnt damage anything as theyre not easy to handle on your own

Just hearing conflicting reports, Sam said they weigh 5kg more and you say there twice the weight of the OEM seats

I must be strong as I fitted the s3 Recaros easy on my own. I didn't find them to be much heavier when comparing, like I said I would guess 5kgs more per seat.

Hi Carl. Not good Im sad to say. We can't hold boost due to the clipped turbine and can only make 265bhp. Pretty gutted, not with the power but all the hard work me and rick put in when fitting it. Still there is light at the end of the tunnel, I'm fitting a gt28 to a modified relentless manifold :) going to be interesting :D

Update time.
Due to the failure of the relentless hybrid, I am now fitting a gt28 turbo to a modified relentless manifold

Also I now have some new rubber. I have bought some vredestein and these are awesome. Driving in the wet do felt like it was a hot summers day, best tire I have ever used.

I have again splashed the cash today, this time on stopping power. I have bought a set of badger5 2 piece front discs, being a larger 330mm disc. I also bought some ferodo ds3000 pads to match. I'm very excited to try this new setup as I have only ever bought cheap mintex pads in the past.
Full fluid change will be done when I fit them. Also the car past it's mot without any issues. Still loving the s3 Recaros more and more.

Ahhhhhh thats a real shame for all concerned :(. But as you say light at the end of the tunnel. I like the modification of the manifold and a gt28 sounds sweet and with Garret reliability will give years of trouble free motoring i'm sure.
Two piece brakes sound great and something i've always wanted and since upping the power becoming more of a neccessity.
Looking forward to the results.

big update time

hello all. been pretty bad at updating my readers ride the last few months.
anyway if i have not been on here means i have been busy (very busy)

1st update is a special one. me and my fiancée are expecting a baby, over the moon as we have been trying for ages.

2nd update i have now got a decent brake setup. badger 5 2 piece discs and ferodo ds3000 pads to match, all fitted but not tested them yet. im expecting them to be far superior to my cheap mintex setup.

3rd update i have purchased a neuspeed 28mm rear anti roll bar, just waiting for this to turn up.

4th i have bought a aem boost gauge, always wanted one and the right deal cropped up. this will be the last boost gauge i ever install to my lcr
IMG_1440.jpg

the big update. im now running a gt2871 :)
now this isnt your normal type of install. i did it with a modified relentless v3 manifold and k04 downpipe. this means every thing remains in its original position. very cost effective. my badger 5 v1 tip fitted without any adjustment. this type of install is what i like to call the DIY ELIMINATOR KIT.

getting the car ready. euro look ftw

and fitted

all finished, as you can see it looks like a normal k04 is fitted.

now i just need to get it mapped. im hoping for around 340bhp but anymore is a bonus. the aim is to prove this cheap setup is better than any hybrid setup. lets see what it can do.
sadly once we finished the build my power steering hose is leaking so waiting for a new hose to arrive before i can do the first test drive.
thanks for reading. more photos from the install can be found here

BIG THANKS TO BILL AT BADGER 5 AND RICK

though i would mention. i know this is not the best setup to make the most from the turbo, this is a test of how well it performs compared to k04 hybrid.

I have been contemplating a ko4 hybrid but I would be hoping for around the 330bhp region to make it worthwhile. This is interesting depending on how the mapping goes, looking forward to the results. Very nice and very original Sam.

Wow,I've been keeping an eye on your readers rides for a year or so and I've got to say its an inspiration.maybe even what the lcr should have been as standard.i like the idea of the large intercooler for less than £90 and I'm just wandering where you got the piping for the set up and how much that was? Keep up the good work and congrats on the baby front.

I had a egt port welded into the turbo, again in the oem position.
I do plan track days next year and also will be getting my act together and entering show and shine comps. I will never win but certainly wont be the worst car.
