I have looked at some of the HTA items but they are much more than the EFR's
Nothing is set in stone yet as which tubby i'll use, but i have decided to keep the GT2871R kit to use to run the stroked engine which will tide me over until i've had a very good look into options
Going to order all my head bits soon too and think of adding some cams to my list whilst i'm at it

Would it not make more sense to run the engine in with your final choice of turbo rather than having to tear it all apart after runnin in an engine which can be done on a Dyno???
The HTA options are expensive but worth it IMO. I can get a near OEM spool from mine but with BT power delivery.

I meant use the garrett kit to run the engine in and run at a nice 370ish bhp ubtil i've decided exactly what turbo to go for
The garrett setup came from a car running 4wd so downpipe is already clearanced for transfer box and prop, etc which is handy for my conversion

Today picked up some servicing parts ready for the cars ever closening 60k
Also picked up a new MAF, as after delving further into things, it turns out the S3's sensor i used (040) is for narrowband controlled cars and the LCR requires a wideband (049) sensor
After swapping this out earlier an a quick blast down the road its definitely much better

Its still happening mate just more slowly than i originally thought
Not much point in selling up now as the car is worth so little i'd spend much more than finishing BT it
Got a few items pending from Issam that should be with me soon
Had to spend quite a bit in the last few months on repair items which slowed everything down but hopefully the last few bits will be ordered christmasish time

Managed to crack on with getting the S3 conversion bits ready today
As im sure the neighbours are getting bored with a mostly stripped car stuck in the carpark
So the last bits of the loom and bits were stripped out, leaving a totally stripped shell
2012-11-10125441.jpg

All the wiring is shocking though, the loom is absolutely huge
2012-11-10125357.jpg

So with it all stripped out its now ready to have the rear cut out ready to be added to the leon.
I was originally going to order a spot weld drill to remove the section but thought i'd never need to weld back into the S3 so may as well just blast through with normal jobber drills (i'll get some cobalt tipped ones from work)
Having looked through grahams thread which has been very helpful in seeing what has to be removed i'm confident i know whats got to be taken
Also noticed the tabs that hold the rear of the boot to the floor pan, not sure if these are structural or to retain the loom?

2012-11-10123321.jpg

A large amount of tree has entered the car in the last few months even though its been under a cover so needs a sweep out.
Plan is to get all this out and get shot of the scrap i dont need, have my forged stroked engine built and run the garrett kit for a while which is clearanced for a prop then i can start to look at getting the conversion underway
Big thanks to Barn too for coming over to help

Crazy how much wiring modern day cars have. I would hate to be fitting all of that into a car!

Great to see you cracking on again mate. Keep the updates flowing, makes a great read

Cheers guys, its slow progress but not the easiest job so occasionally requires some grey matter use
Also i forgot to mention i've sorted out a welder for next saturday so i can finally make use of the FMIC
So will update next week with some pics of the piping in the alternative route

It'll be a big day in your build when the cutting starts. It'll take you to an other level when it's all done, it's going to be a great car. Best of luck although I'm sure you don't need it!

The front mount was fitted yesterday but photbucket is being gay and wont let me view any of my photos or upload more
Any how big thanks to P&G automotive for letting me use the the ramps and sorting out a welder
I followed pretty much the route i wanted to but had to make some slight changes to get a good fit and had to add one more silicon joint as otherwise you wouldnt be able fit it
Unfortunately due to the increased time taken with welding i havent managed to do the bumper yet so it looks very pikey and probably shouldnt drive in this state
I'll put some pics up when photobucket lets me

Keep the front bumper off, weight saving and plenty of air flow ;)

Top work on the intercooler. Look forward to seeing the set up once you get the pics up

Right, photobucket is now working for me so time for some pics
So friday popped up to a friends unit to try and use the lights to work and was offered the use of the ramp for the strip down, at pub time it stayed overnight like this
2012-11-16213543.jpg

Firstly the slightly modified charge pipe couldnt be fitted as the ports are were the top bracket is an the one bolt to remove it was rounded so knowing time was short we decided to do the lower bits and top part will have to be done at a later date
So the first join is at the end of the charge pipe and using a flexi joins a downward pipe, this flexi is the forge pipe chopped up so is a bit too short so a generic coupler is about to get ordered
2012-11-19122050.jpg

This drops nicely in front of the auxillary belt and pulleys so no catching
2012-11-19122119.jpg

At the bottom the plan was to go straight forward but was going to foul the pipework slightly and be tight so added so bends to keep it smooth.
Also fitting i really gave it some welly and pancaked it slightly so opened back out and welded a strengthen band at that point
2012-11-19122133.jpg

Then the bend joins to the end of the cooler, due to the lack of flexi length at the charge pipe we cable tied the pipe up to reduce the strain on it but this caused it to touch the tow eye point so added a an offcut to stop this rubbing through for now

On the outlet side i did make a slight **** up so the pipe angle but time was running low so i'll come back and alter it at a later date
2012-11-19122157.jpg

Relocated the horns and added the bend to come back through the gap where the OE SMIC pipe runs
2012-11-19122211.jpg

Then a 90 degree bend to come up behind the rad and in front of the gearbox which i also used to incorporate the MAP sensor boss
2012-11-19122219.jpg

Pipe comes up close to the throttle body but further away than i thought and again a chopped up forge pipe was used to join it to the throttle body which is slightly squashed but will be swapped out soon
2012-11-19122238.jpg

So this was all tightened and looked like this
2012-11-19122251.jpg

Then spent today reassembling and sorting and it looked like this
2012-11-19172150.jpg

After that i even treated it to a clean
2012-11-19175947.jpg

2012-11-19180211.jpg

So for those who said it couldnt be done, it has been to an extent but just needs another little session to tidy to get it better
